Glad to hear you're feeling better! Tic bites are absolutely a pain in the outdoorsmens ass. I've had my own story with them. Glad you're doing better!

Love the rear bumper!

I'm looking forward to seeing recovery pockets on the design. I did have one question; I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, but I've got rear quarter panel protection on my Tacoma, and it's saved me from body damage more than once. I can't tell from the pics if there's enough space around the spindle to mount some tubing. On the truck it sticks about 2" away from the body and extends about 3" above the rear bumper. I can take some pics if I'm not explaining it well. It looks like if I go flare less there's enough to mount on the front side, I'm just not sure about around the spindle.

I'm looking forward to buying a set!

Thank you!
There is room. For tube work on top of the wings. I have a couple different ideas in mind. Im not sure I'll add them to mine as I like how clean it looks without it. But I could tack something up to show as an example. Im working on some changes to the swing arms currently and hope to have everything buttoned up and finalized over the weekend. I changed how the latch was. It's now tucked in and doesn't stick out. Im also mounting the two 3 gallon rotopax behind the tire on mine.I also got excellent feedback from the prototype rear that went out. He took it up north to Maine for a week pulling a trailer and said he was more than pleased with it and couldn't be happier. Only issues were with the pneumatic strut, Which I have now addressed. And the latch was a little hard for his wife to operate. But we new that one before he left. I have since addressed that as well on the new design and will fix his when it comes back for more work before his Africa trip. I'll also be texture coating the top surfaces of the wings and center section of his bumper so he can stand on it. I'll post up pics when it's done. I may also do the same to mine. Im actually thinking of painting it and my front bumper dark anthracite to match my rims. And break up all the black. But I'll do the spray texture in black. It should look nice.

I thought the rotopax behind tire carrier was a great idea! Lol nice and low and protected... Unlike the jerry cans I always hated how they just stuck out there on other bumpers waiting for Murphy/mayhem to show up

New latch setup for destaco as of before lunch. All tucked in nice. Going to use one latch to hold both arms closed on mine. I have a longer u bolt. And I need to put a spacer under the latch so it's past Center of the catch.

Are you planning on making removable swing outs? It would be nice to remove them when using as a daily driver, and then put them back on before heading out on the trail.

They are removable. The nuts are retained (welded) under the bumper. You just remove the two 3/4" bolts from the top and slide the arms off. The bearings and stainless steel internal sleeves are retained in the swingout arms by the seals.

This question also brings forth what I'm figuring out now. Do I leave the stops and bumpers on the arms Like I had. So the bumper is clean when the arms are removed? Or do I put the stops behind the arms on the bumper which would look cleaner with the swing arms in place but would leave parts on the bumper when the arms are off??

Does that De-Sta-Co lock?

RDC76, you do great work, you've got the gift.

Can you post pics of the stops? It hard to imagine leaving them on would diminish aesthetic appeal.

I'll post more pics of the rear asap. I'm still playing with the tire carrier/rotopax setup and ladder design. Here's a bumper a did for a local guy. He brought it back for me to cut driving lights in. This is some tech info. The rigid d2's are the only ones I found that came in amber and would fit in my bumper. As well as these lights from zerodark lighting. Except the zerodark only come white. So I cut amber lenses to fit inside and replace the clear. It worked out great and cost 150 bucks including lights a harness and lense material. Half of what the d2's cost . Not a bad option and they look/work great. There are also three 7" roundlights that go under the hoop.

The lights look great as does the pocket for them. Exceptionally clean work.

how soon will you be selling rear bumpers.? i need one without swing outs. trailer receiver is a must and if possible id like the recovery points that do not stick out but instead go in like your front bumper recovery points (very slick).. and pricing thanks.

Awesome work. Beautiful welds. You definitely have the touch. Love how you work through all possible solutions to the n-th degree.

Saw what you were doing with the Subaru build too. Is that all one-off stuff or do you offer that as well? If you haven't already, you should get that up on the Subaru forums. I can imagine it'd be a hit there as well.

Hey all, I'll answer all questions tonight. Gonna try and knock this and the ladder out today! Tire carrier at the very least! Here are the rotopax mounts so far. Still gotta do upper tube , base plate , top plate and vertical wall that the standard rotopax mount bolts to. And of course the tire mount. These are just propped up and not quite where they will end up. And the tubes won't be under the tanks. The tanks will be higher as well.
I think this is gonna be a pretty sweet setup! And I'm happy this one is staying on my truck!
