I'm in AZ and A/C is a necessity. My A/C is working, however when I turn it on the engine idle starts going up and down repeatedly until I drive and then in normalizes. I have noticed if I pull the gas pedal back while at a stop light, the reving stops. Any ideas? Is this a carb adjustment?

Could be as simple as a bad AC idler switch. Mines gone but I believe it resides near or on top of the drivers side wheel well. If you have the Chassy Body Manual you should be able to locate it.
Good luck to you and say hello to my cousin Marty Brown if ya know him .

It sounds like the a/c idle up screw is adjusted too high. It should be on the front of the carb on the shaft to the primary barrel.
