Hi guys, I just changed my condenser, since I broke it around 6 month ago off roading. I let it on the vacuum for about an hour, and then added almost a can of freon. but the compr3sor won't engaged. Using techstream I forced the magnetic clutch to engage with made the compressor to start working, but it turns it on for a few sec and then off for a few secs, I guess is a set up for this active test.

When comp is engaged (its still missing a lot of freon) the high goes up a bit, but the low does not goes down, therefore no creating suction to add more freon.

what are your thoughts?

You need to add the proper amount of refrigerant before you start troubleshooting. I’m guessing at this point you just don’t have enough in there. If it is too low, the compressor won’t engage to prevent damage. IIRC it takes 33 oz by weight or about 3 cans. Double check those numbers, it’s just off the top of my head.

I also ran the vacuum a lot longer than that, and then let it sit for an hour to make sure it held vacuum before I started adding Freon. Do a search, there is a very long and thorough thread.

This ^^^^

Yeah pressure is still too low, keep adding and you should be good. Takes a couple/few cans.

I replaced my condenser and compressor this weekend. I thought something was wrong as the compressor wasn't engaging as I was filling it. It did not kick on until about 1.5 cans of refrigerant. There needs to be enough refrigerant in the system or it wont kick on.
