@beno, I think Charles needs a good insulator for test purposes ...

Listen up ..... I have information from reliable sources that my Ute NEVER had a hood insulator. Insulators are for wimps.

You gotta keep that beautiful blue engine warm in those frigid winters you have down there :grinpimp:

Fortunately Winter last about 3 days down here. :)

That sounds good. If they are ready in time I'll get him to ship one with my dome light.
You will find that Rob is very METICULOUS and is seldom happy with his first effort. He will probably change the prototype several times. : )

Yes and no .....
Until he installs the prototype in my HJ75 and determines if there are any unforeseen issues, he will be unable to determine a final price. He is talking about offering a single and dual light option which will again affect the final price.
Cruisers with hood insulation also offers a unique challenge. I should have more information by next week.
Price? Who cares about crass commercial issues? We're talking about new science, breakthroughs in safety and the quality of life!

Rob is hard at work in the laboratory to ensure that all Cruisers have the benefit of this exciting technology......as all of my rigs have hood insulators, I wait for breaking news on the results of his research. :)

"We're talking about new science, breakthroughs in safety and quality of life" .... I may suggest that Rob puts that on the cover of his brochures and business cards. :)

I am sure that the market will respond favorably...

Strange the bonnet liners must have been a option then as my 1985 hj75 has the provisions with clips installed so it was fitted but a PO must have removed.

My 1985 has no holes / clips or any other evidence that a bonnet liner was ever installed.

DON'T BE THIS GUY ...... You don't have to struggle with an OEM dome light. :)

I absolutely don't want to hijack this thread, but this is what I used on my "77. And I didn't have any alternative sources when I bought mine. These have a nice warm yellow colour (not cool blue) and area really bright plus emit virtually no heat. No problem reading a map at night now! $3.99 on eBay, with free delivery. Had them in for 2 years with no problems. I have no other affiliation with them other than I needed better light, they were only $3.99 and I found they work great. Good for 12V or 24V. I used them in the front, middle and rear roof lights and they fit nicely inside the plastic cover and have a bit of double-sided tape to hold in them in place.

In this case we are talking apples and oranges. Totally different products.

Wat @elkaholic Sam said. I have Rob's lights and they are awesome. Had similar, lower price models in my rigs - they work, but the light is yellowish and not as bright as the subject of this thread. Price of Rob's kits reflect a more complete and well made package. I am kind of fussy when it comes to electrical items that can melt, short, etc. Plus, I would rather do business with a North American vendor wherever possible.

Lots of my consumer purchases are made in China - that's just the way it is these days. In this case, Rob makes the product here with components wherever they come from and then sells them here. At the very least, by buying his products I am supporting a manufacturer/assembler and retailer who lives, works, pays taxes and contributes to our North American community.

Chinese lights, Chinese bearings, not on my Land Cruiser if I can help it. If I had a Jeep, maybe.... I understand they are very popular over there.

Because I was involved with Rob in the early research and development of this product, I can assure you that all LED bulbs are not created the same. There is a huge difference in the size and quality of the bulbs, the thickness of the circuit boards and the quality of the wiring and soldering. Some of Rob's early products suffered from an unacceptable high failure rates and this was only corrected after his due diligence to source better components. Rob has now sold over 100 kits and not one kit has suffered a bulb failure. When it comes to LED products you really do get what you pay for.
