Rob's now "international". :)
The first "European" order was just filled.

Do any of you guys who are lucky enough to own a 1990 or later 70 Series Land Cruiser know if they all share the same dome light?
Thanks...

It appears the 1990 and later dome light assembly is the same as the earlier models.

I know it's not a 70 Series but the owner of this 60 Series installed the LED dome light kits and posted some very cool photos. Your 70 Series can "glow in the dark" just like this. :)

As usual, Rob wasn't happy with prototype #1 (he is somewhat picky) and is working on # 2.

When he finishes, it will be bulletproof, guarandamnedteed!

Prototype #1 worked flawlessly however the brightness didn't match that of a shuttle launch so it's back to the drawing board.

Out of 80-90 LED dome light kits that have been shipped only one was returned with an issue and Rob covered the shipping both ways and promptly provided a new light kit. He does his homework and the finished product reflects that.

Obvious issues with the under-hood lighting system that is not encountered with the dome light kits are....
1) The bulbs need to be water proof.
2) They need to be shock resistant to the fullest extent.
3) They need to resistant to engine bay heat.
4) They need to function automatically while retaining the ability to turn off completely if desired.
5) They need to be RELIABLE on a long term basis.
6) The finished product needs to be cost competitive with the other offerings out there.
Knowing Rob, unless the above criteria is accomplished, he won't send a product out.

The under-hood LED lighting prototype should be installed in my Ute very shortly. It will feature two "fully enclosed / waterproof" led bulbs, (48 individual bulbs) automatic on/off switch and a seperate kill switch. I will post photos once it's installed.

Does Rob have a price point yet on the under hood light kit?
Yes and no .....
Until he installs the prototype in my HJ75 and determines if there are any unforeseen issues, he will be unable to determine a final price. He is talking about offering a single and dual light option which will again affect the final price.
Cruisers with hood insulation also offers a unique challenge. I should have more information by next week.
