In an effort to unravel a mystery switch (covered in a different thread), I went into the cab for the first time in my ownership that was after a heavy rain, and the car smelled moldy. Like a wet dog. The dogs being inside and not in the car I knew they were innocent and that I had to chase down a leak -- I suspect it may be coming from the windshield. There is a piece of moulding peeling up alongside the drivers side window, and the water seems to be collecting around the 'lexus' logo. The weatherstripping on the window itself seems very good so I am not inclined to blame it.
So to see if I could find anything with the windshield, I peeled back the moulding and this is what I saw:
If this were your cruiser, how bright would the alarms be flashing on this being a potential problem // indication that things were amiss? I am a carpenter by trade not a mechanic, but this looks like a hack job but I would gladly be talked down from that ledge.
From what I understand the proper application here is using plastic rivets. Would I be able to go back and do that, or is it likely that things have been compromised? There are at least 4, maybe more like 6 or 8 of these screws.
