FOR SALE: 1999 Lexus LX470 - 112K MILES, PRICE = $13,750, DARK GREEN METALLIC, TAN LEATHER INTERIOR

If you are actively looking for a 100 series, you'll want to consider this 2 owner LX located in ATLANTA.

LINK TO PHOTOS: Lexus LX470 - drewporta's Photos

These photos were taken after I'd washed the truck. Note that I had NOT waxed or detailed it to "prep" for photos. Should give you a good idea of the true condition of the truck. The floormats and 3rd row seats are not shown in the pictures but come with the truck.

Details of the truck...

YEAR/MILEAGE:
1999 Lexus LX-470 with 112K miles...mostly highway miles...it had ~62K on it ~2 years ago when I bought it

COLOR:
Exterior is dark green metallic with rock gray metallic (lower panels)...and the interior is tan full leather with wood trim...includes 3rd row seats

OWNERSHIP HISTORY:
Only TWO owners total...first owner was CEO of a technology company...the truck was kept at his winter home in a garage in Colorado for the first 5+ years of it's life (really low miles the first 5 years)...he later brought the LX470 back to South Dakota and alternated daily between it and his Lamborghini (rough life I suppose). Until 2010 the truck spent nights in his heated garage and days in a parking deck reserved parking spot.

OEM OPTIONS:
center locking differential, air suspension (High/Normal/Low settings), shock setting (Comfort/Sport...and you can tell the difference in handling and ride between the two settings), moonroof, Nakamichi sound system, rear air conditioning, carpeted floor mats...probably other options, but the LX-470s came pretty much loaded vs. the LandCruisers having more options/choices. OEM full size spare included (doesn't look like it's ever touched pavement). (Note: This truck does NOT have the Lexus NAV system...very intentional on my part as I'd heard these are prone to malfunctioning / breaking...who needs it anyway if you have a smart-phone, Tom-Tom, or Garmin.)

ACCESSORIES:
- 305 BFG-ATs (on OEM 16" Lexus wheels)...yes they fit and no they do not rub
- ARB front bumper w/ Hella fog lights and winch mounting (NO winch installed)
- Old Man Emu roof brackets with steel crossbars
- class 3 trailer receiver hitch with trailer light wiring

OTHER ITEMS INCLUDED:
- OEM carpet floormats (average condition...no holes and not torn)
- OEM rear cargo area carpeted mat
- 3rd row LEATHER seats come with the truck
- cargo area platform (organize items you keep in the truck AND be able to sleep inside the truck with rear seat folded down)
- OEM roof rack, cross-bars, and slot-covers

ITEMS NOT INCLUDED (but shown in some of the photos):
- PIAA Ion Crystal Driving Lights (the ones on top of the front bumper)
- Camping Lab Awning
- running boards (removed and were thrown away)
- surf fishing pole brackets
- trailer hitch & ball

SERVICE RECORDS:
complete print-outs of service records since brand new...serviced religiously every 5K miles at the same Lexus dealership with owner #1 through ~61K miles...serviced in Atlanta (Owner #2 = me) at either ACC Customs (LandCruiser shop) or Lex-Techs (independent Lexus-only shop)...routine synthetic oil changes with documentation

USE:
(Owner #2 = me over last 2 years): This was primarily a daily driver with just me in it...part-time a family hauler around town...weekend highway cruiser. NO trail use (was starting to set up for trails but I never had the opportunity to do any or used my FJ40)...2 trips on OBX beaches...several camping excursions in NC mountains (hence the roof rack and bed platform)...towed a lightweight trailer maybe 4x around town. Some garage parking at night but weekdays were always spent in covered parking deck.

REPAIR HISTORY SUMMARY:
Very, very, very reliable truck. Most repairs have been wear/tear related (brakes, fluids). New starter back in Spring 2011. Minor **cosmetic only** fender bender in September 2010...damage limited to front bumper, grille, and bottom of hood (truck still has Factory OEM fenders with OEM stickers and NO REPAIRS were performed to fenders...have photos to prove before and after work...main reason the ARB was installed)

ISSUES / NEEDS:
Not much. Truck looks great. It's time for a timing belt, rear brakes, and an oil change. No major dents or scratches...could use a few minor paint touch-ups (mostly front end from rock chips)...tailgate has a dime-sized rust bubble behind the license plate chrome trim (common on LXs). The Nakamichi sound system works fine, but the speakers need to be replaced (due to dry rot) and CD slots #1 & #5 seem to snag on certain song tracks (neither stereo issue is enough for me to have bothered with it yet).

REASON FOR SELLING:
Bought the truck in early 2010 when I was in North Carolina, had plans to stay there, and do limited out of town travel. Ended up taking a job in Atlanta a few months after I purchased the LX470. Now, two years later, I'm living in Atlanta, my kids live in NE Tennessee, and I still have family in North Carolina. So I'm on the highway - A LOT - so I bought a car to cover the routine long distance travel. And, I'm doing much less outdoor activities than when I was living in North Carolina.

Combine all the above with the fact that I also have a FJ-40 and you can see why I've decided to sell it. Simply don't need 2 SUVs anymore. And my fiance has a Lexus RX-300 which makes for 3 SUVs!?!? Really hate to part ways with the LX-470 as there's absolutely nothing wrong with the truck.

Price = $13,750. This is basically halfway between "Average" and "Clean" NADA TRADE-IN value for a '99 LX-470. Most of the trucks in this price range will have multiple owners and higher miles...and many will not have the options this one has nor be as clean as this one.

The LX-470 is located in Atlanta (most of the time). With trips to Chattanooga, NE Tennessee, and Greensboro, NC from time to time.

If you are interested in discussing the truck further or would like to see it in person, please contact me.
Thanks,
Drew

Bump for updated information and photos. The LX-470 is now officially "for sale". :(

Nice truck as Bomar said. I zoomed in on the photo, I don't see the diff lock dial. As Slee's website says, the rear is a LSD not a locker. Can you confirm with a photo that it does indeed have a locker? Dial would be right next to the mirror control.

^ what he said. Unless it's got an ARB aftermarket rear locker, it doesn't have a factory rear locker

So what is the switch in the photo to the right of the steering wheel? Just below the hazard light switch (located at about 5 o'clock on the steering wheel)...it has an image of 4 wheels with lines connecting all 4 wheels.

Does it lock the rear differential or activate a limited-slip differential?

I've had vehicles before with limited-slip diffs (granted they were sports cars) and those were usually self-sensing limited slip diffs with no "switch" to activate it.

Slee's Buyers' Guide states that 1999 model years had "Rear Differential Locker was an option". My understanding was that this switch locked the rear diff.

SO...what does this truck have on it?

Rear diff lock was an option. If it had that option, you would see a rotary dial through the "hole" on the steering wheel spokes at about 7 o'clock in your photo. Your truck has open diffs, both front and rear, and as CID 96 said above, the switch to which you referred locks the center diff only (and leaves the front / rear diffs "open."

The CDL is of slight benefit, but MUCH less than the rear diff lock would be

Got it. Thanks! So it's locking center differential. I'll update the ad. Appreciate the clarification. Had CDL on a previous SUV too (Land Rover Discovery) and it certainly helped over a few big trail obstacles that otherwise the Discovery wouldn't climb.

But, as stated in my ad, this LX-470 has had zero trail time...only a few beach excursions is the limit of it's offroad time. When we went on the trails, my FJ40 filled that role.

Anyway, this LX-470 is a great platform for someone looking for a very reliable daily driver or to continue to build out the truck.

If someone on MUD is interested they will need to move quickly as I'm preparing to list it on AutoTrader. I've never had a vehicle last more than 30 days on AutoTrader...

this is a beauty. if not for an over abundance of Landcruisers at the moment i would swoop down from my confines in comfy western Wisconsin and bring that one back home.....

good luck with the sale....

anyone need a nice 94, ARB, lift, rocker protection etc? :-)

ttt

It's going on AutoTrader later this week if no one from MUD steps up...

OK, I think I'm caught up on the emails and PMs about the LX470. If you haven't rec'd a reply from me today, just ping me again...trying to keep up with the inquiries.

Lots of online interest but no one has come to look at it yet. My guess is the first guy to look it over and drive it will quickly realize it's a gem and buy it...

Thanks,
Drew

SOLD

A former FJ-40 owner and MUD member picked up the LX over the weekend. Looks like the LX gets to stay in the MUD family and do more beach duty down in Florida. :)

Thanks for all the replies and inquiries on the truck. Didn't have to resort to AutoTrader, so a big thanks to IH8MUD.com! And the first person to look at it in person did buy it afterall... :)
