For the last 10 years I've always sold my vehicles once they reach 200k. Well, the time came a couple days ago when I cracked 200k with my 98 hundy. Over the last few months, my wife and I debated on buying another one with low miles but after not much though we both decided... "WHY?" This truck has been insanely reliable, is very comfortable, runs perfect, and still looks good. It's got another 200-300k in it easy.
So we decided to give it a little refresh instead and keep it for awhile. We did all of the major and minor services (all fluids, tb/water pump, plugs, filters, lubes, etc...)We had a little bodywork done on the rear hatch where I backed it into a dumpster a few months ago, and I decided to change the chipped up headlights and stuff. The following pics are the before and after really. Not much of a write up because when I get busy doing something I forget to take pics along the way. It's very straight forward though.
Parts needed (or at least what I used
)
-2006+ headlights (I got some DEPOs off EBAY for $260 shipped)
-2006+ grill (I got an OEM grill off EBAY for $70ish shipped)
-Sub panels (trim under lights parts# 53903-60080, 53904-60010 @ $42 each @ Toyota)
-Retainer Bracket (replaces trim bracket under old grill/lights 52506-60061 @ $55 @ Toyota)
- 76519-60010 (x2) - clips for sub panels ($1.30 ea)
- 93560-55014 (x2) - tap screws for sub panels ($1.02 ea)
- 90189-05142 (x2) - grommet for headlight to fender ($1.30ea)
- 90159-50353 (x2) - tap screw for headlight to fender ($1.02 ea)
Before (old and busted)
Test Fitting:
After (dont mind the dirt and bugs, lol):
DRL on
5000k HID upgrade
Bonus pic of where bodywork was. Mostly debaged now, was going to do a new style Land Cruiser emblem that covers the whole popout on the hatch, or maybe leave it debaged. What do y'all think?
