Any of you ever take that hokey looking stick on woodgrain kit off?

I was cleaning the potato chips and french fries out of my console peices last night and decided to take this junk off the forward console. It came off pretty clean, but left some glue trail that seems to have painted itself into the plastic.

I like the look of the plastic better than the fake wood, but those glue trails are ugly.

Any ideas? Other than the same old kit options?

I'm more than likely going to take the stuff off the dash as well if I can find something cool to replace it with.

I popped mine off and cleaned it all with acetone and it looks awesome.

Did it leave that glue trail?

Acetone will remove the glue nicely

I used rubbing alcohol, a bunch of cotton balls and q-tips, and some elbow grease. A little Maquire's vinyl/plastic stuff made it look really nice afterward.

Just after I bought mine (has burlwood) I saw a white 80 with what looked like clear coated white oak trim. Looked great. I wish mine had that instead.

be carefule when removing it. you don't want to gouge anything; some people find a hair dryer or heat gun helpful to warm up the glue. use an adhesive remover to take care of any goo that might be left.

hasn't this been discussed once or twice already?

I was thinking about pulling off the wood and replacing it with carbon fiber or something....

I have the carbon fiber in mine. grey interior, black/gray carbon kit.
It looks awesome. Got the kit online. Dont remember the vendor. Covered all the door switches(all 4 doors) and all the dash and console spots.

i got a nice wood dash kit from an online place. pm me if you want pictures

What is Hammerite? A spray can paint product? Bedliner?
Spray can paint product. Rust-Oleum makes something similar.

Now it's all gone...

I think I'll leave it this way for a few weeks and see how I like it. It is very obvious why this aftermarket mod was done on most of these rigs sold in the US.

Here's the look...without all the wood stickers

I think I like how this looks. A little more under-stated is sometimes better, especially with my plans to make this more of an expidition use vehicle. The glue has not yet been cleaned off.

I also test drove two 100's yesterday. One had the stickers and one didn't. I preferred the one without. The one with had bliters in the varnish already (it was a 2001).

I went for the 'Brushed Aluminum', and took the liberty of having the appropriate door lock, window lock engraving done...I also added 'Collectors Edition' to the ashtray piece. (I do have a Collectors Edition...)

Not a look for everyone, but I sure like it!:D
