Great deals on FZJs are a fleeting thing. Cheap ones go fast, and reasonably priced, well-sorted rigs sell before too long. But some offerings are designed to linger a while, brightening lives and bringing smiles.

This one is on Craigslist in Mountain View, CA - where Google is headquartered. I guess everything costs more in Silicon Valley. I'm including the full text in case the ad changes, and because it's a really entertaining read. Here goes (bracketed notes and emphasis added in yellow):

1996 toyota landcruiser one owner - $15000 (mountain view)

Hi and thanks for reading my add. No lockers, No locking lockers
this is an original one owner 1996 land cruiser from the east coast so yes is very rusty I can't control the weather , this is a used truck ,thats the major problem.
Ok on the other hand it is a very low mile car for the age 121,321 . I did a professional mechanic inspection (report will be available to potential buyers only thank you)
I will be showing the land cruiser the following weekend when I get back to California from my long cross country trip [In the Cruiser? Hey, showing that kind of confidence is worth a few added miles] hopefully saturday or sunday depending on the weather.
text will be the best communication option at the moment since I am on the road and driving . Potential buyers will get a answer to a serious question only. No blue book bull[REDACTED]. If you know what I mean.
Asking price is $15000 cash or cashier check only at a bank station yes $15 THOUSAND pretty firm on the price no offers , many toyotas landcruisers on the market way cheaper than mine [Can't argue with that]. All stock no modifications no LIFT kits , or lockers , this cruiser will get you back and forth as it is any more questions I will be happy to answer thank you and happy buying

Hilarious! Thanks for sharing!

Ha! The only way i'll believe that price is if the rust is creating piles of gold every time you go over a bump.

Well, it is low miles but $15k? I suppose maybe if he had upgrades and all nice after market modifications and add ons but, it looks pretty stock.

I have seen early 2000's LX 470's by me at lexus dealers with up to date maintenance, maintenance records, and similar miles. for $15k.

Stock rusted out 80, if it goes for more than $7K I'd be surprised, but GLWS.

The rust is the killer, you can fix mechanical, once it starts to rot out like that, it becomes a downward spiral.
