Hey guys so this pst week I did a bunch of PM on the truck since I’ve got the time and when I fired it up today I have a new whine that is super obnoxious and I have no idea what it’s from. I didn’t mess with any of the belts or pulleys. It seems like it’s coming from the DS of the engine bay but it’s so loud it’s hard to tell.

Recent PM:
Valve cover gasket
Spark plugs
Plug seals
Coils
Dizzy cap
Dizzy rotor
Dizzy o ring

I’ve attached a clip of it. Any help is appreciated!
80 series whine

It's the airplane you're sitting next to. Move to another location and you'll be fine. Could attach the exhaust of that to your intake for better performance!

Need to install the gasket between the radiator and the cowl. Could be causing that.

Also could be the broken fan shroud causing turbulence.

Reinstall the hood and it won't be as loud in the cabin.

Hahaha that’s the noise I’m talking about

Unfortunately i don’t think either of those are the cause of this new noise. Gasket hasn’t been there since I bought the truck and I broke the shroud a few years ago( definitely think that has an effect on the loudness but not the new squeal/whine.)

Take another video and move around the top of the engine and dip in and around the alternator, AC compressor, power steering, etc to let us get a feel for it.

Also take a look around it to prove you don't have a F'n turbine setting next to it.......

That's REALLY a noise from your Cruiser and you're not bullshitting us?
Haha yes it is i swear!

I’ll take another video tomorrow!

Did you get the distributor fully seated?
Possibilities:
Idler pulley on either AC or alternator.
Alternator
Water pump

Get a mechanics stethoscope and check each item for noise.

You can also remove the belts and start it in order to isolate the moist to a rotating part or a massive vacuum leak.

Dizzy should be fully seated as I only replaced the O ring cap. Too scared to take apart the full dizzy:princess:

AC and alternator are both maybe a year old :(

I’ll give the stethoscope a shot

Ok. Because the dizzy o-ring everyone refers to you must pull the distributor to access.

Even though parts are only a year old doesn't mean they didn't fail.

Get a stethoscope and check it out. They're about $10 at harbor freight.

Ah gotcha! Yeah that one was too scary I bailed lol.

Ill grab a stethoscope and then start pulling pulleys 1 by 1 and see if I can narrow it down. Guess I should probably order new belts if I’m going to be in there too
