OK, a guiy at work has this '94 with 160,000 miles on it. I work for a large company and the truck is in another state. I have the opportunity to see it on Wednesday to check it out. Never having driven a LC before, I stopped by a used car dealer today and took a '96 out for a test drive. Wow, is this thing big! I think it could swallow my Cherokee whole. Very tall ride and it really dwarfed everything around it. So, now I"m having some issues: do I really want to drive something this large (and thirsty)? Am I adding to the rampant conspicuous consumption that's all around us. Or am I just being a man who wants to drive a huge truck that will go anywhere and screw what everyone else thinks? (This is actually a serious question...).

Thanks,

BRnPA

People do not buy Land Cruisers to save gas. So if you are even remotely concerned about what you spend for fuel, you should probably pass. My 80 seems dainty next to my 1 ton crewcab Dodge/Cummins. I guess size is relative.

Brian , you know you wanna do it ....

"Do it .. do it "

I have a hard time seeing anything around you as dainty :D

If the truck's in good shape, that's a nice year model to have. If you have a hard time with the fuel costs, use a Shell Citibank Mastercard with gas rebates and you'll make up the difference in gas costs. I average $20 of free gas a month. Don't worry, be happy. ;)

I don't think so. Keep in mind that if it is in good shape, you will be so happy with it that it will be the last car you need to buy for a long time. Besides the offroad ability, they are really pleasing to drive every day.

BRnPA,

I quit worry about what other people think back in Jr High School and I suggest that you do to. If you want an 80 series Cruiser and you can afford the initial cost, maintenance, and fuel then dump that POS Cherokee and buy a real truck.

How much have you spent in repair bills with that Cherokee? This is another factor to throw in, cuz 80s are 10x more likely to get you from point A to point B without breaking down.
