Awesome thread. Looking forward to seeing the end result!

No updates at this point. I am finishing up and 88 FJ62 swap that grew a great deal in scope. It won't be too long before I am back on this truck.

I put the body back on the 92 80 frame today

I love that frame/axle color, I'm so tired of black. Just wondering, I trust your judgement but why do you paint over gaskets and hardware like that rear diff cover? I would think one would want to replace those gaskets and chase threads and stuff while the housing is out from under the rig?

I wanted something other than black too. This truck is a long term project and will spend time just sitting around. The axles will be totally rebuilt at some point and I wanted them painted to prevent rust. I'll just cut the paint with a razor when I take them apart, hardware will be tumbled and cover cleaned and re painted.

A customer saw this frame in the shop and when it was time for him to have a frame replaced he went for this on his 62. Worked well with the dark grey of the truck

Told you this build would be long term :)

I found some time while waiting for parts on a customer job. So I assembled the adapter and rebuilt the T-case and got it all together. Maybe this will inspire me to get back to this truck more often.

sub'd. Which part of the AC work does your AC guy do? I'm looking at dropping a 5.3 into my 93 this spring, but I want to do it the hard way and learn as I go!

He makes up the hoses and charges the system. It is not really a hard swap if you are a well rounded mechanical type. It certainly is an involved swap. Lots of little details. It's all in the details.
