The cruiser :princess: DD 92 has been running like crapola for a while so I broke down and did a full blowen tuneup, yes everything got new, even new o2s
runs a little better but #5 is dead :( good spark (used the sweaty arm to metal trick when pulling it off ;p )
Sprayed everything with carb cleaner and found no intake or vacuum leaks . Changed the FPR and still no #5 .
No codes at all
Checked vacuum and no jumping needle and good compression on all cly.
Im thinking I got a bad injector . When I got the truck 45K miles ago it had some upper intake work done on it as the gaskets were new where they humg out a little like the cold start injector and a couple of others that I could see.

Any help on what else i need to look at before I send them out as Im down to sending the injectors out and getting them cleaned and balanced

Thanks

Just a thought, I had a poor running problem, could not trace to specific cylinder, but the cure was new plug wires, the old ones were marginal and I could not find the problem wire, but a new set took care of it.

NOt being sarcastic here Koffer, but you're not just saying it's running this way because you are now comparing it to the 96 are you? As opposed to comparing it to a 70 before. Would make a big diff.

I wish it was that . :D
No fire in #5 . When I pull the wires I get a lowering of idle on each but for #5 I can feel the miss when driving and see it at idle (loose mirror on the pass side  )

I think its time to go through the junk pile called my shop  and find the extra set of injectors and get them cleaned and flow tested since it will be under $100 for that with gaskets and then get pissed when it dosnt work

i went to vernon, nj last night with my '91 and then ended up in staten island coming home -- a mess of sorts, but my '91 is running like a top -- hope yours comes along --

-- i replaced wire and cap last winter, plus plugs, from the guy in neptune i bought it from -- sorry yours sounds like a bigger problem --

-- left last night at 7 PM, got back at 4 AM -- all for this girl -- work's a little tough today --

 Look on the bright side, you'll likely find some crap you haven't seen in a long time that is worth more than the $100 :princess: :buttwhoop:

Koffer, you mention you think the intake and stuff has been off because of the gasket sticking out...........thats just they way they come as new......all my 3fe look have gasket sticking out a bit...........

sorry I have no clue whats going on with your 3fe.

Sounds to me like a plug wire problem. A new set from CDan may be in order; plus if that doesn't fix it, it'll be good PM...

-H-
plug wires changed too .
I changed all of the goodies cap/rotor/wires/plugs/pcv/air/fuel filter/cats/O2s/oil and filter.
The 3 inch arc out the end of the wire and into my hand seems like its good to me
Im just going to get a light on it and make sure its getting a pulse before I rip into it .
I should have not done the birfs on it as this started about 2 weeks later :censor:

How about the EFI relay? Tried swapping it? $9 PM item that could help. Never heard of the relay causing just one cyl to conk, but hey, why not give her a go?

Sounds a lot like an injector...

Got compression, got spark, got good wires, cap, rotor, etc., and the engine runs, but not #5. I would have to agree on the injector so long as you have already checked that the wiring to that injector is good (i.e., the brittle wire snydrome from the EGR).
