So my 93 got totaled sat. My 91 is so slow that only way I can be happy with it is it I engine swap it or sell and buy a 93+

I’m in middle of ls swapping my 85 fj60. When I eyeballed the 92 fj80 kinda seems very similar to the fj60 swap. Difference is my 60 I kept the Toyota 5 speed I swapped in previous.

The 92 3fe auto trans sucks compared to the 93 style. So guessing I either have to leave the 92 trans or swap in a gm trans which would be more work and fab.

I’m not a fab guy but know some to do my welding.

Any tips or help would be appreciated.

Sorry about your truck.

Most swap in the GM transmission on 80 series and use kits that bolt to the Toyota T-case. No fabrication involved other than making the Toyota shifter work with the GM transmission. Motor mounts have to be done, regardless of transmission choice.

There is a massive thread on swapping V8s into the 80 series. As someone who has done it, 100% worth it.

I have no V8 swap experience, but I am fond of the 3FE. Now my perspective is running stock 31" tires -- if you start going bigger, it'll make a huge difference. I even prefer the 3FE over the 1FZ.

Another avenue is to manual swap the 3FE. I assume this will get it to start approaching 1FZ with an auto territory.

That said, it could be that a V8 swap would be wonderful. I really don't know.

Add a Nomad Valve body to the A440F, it is awesome and it transforms the A440F. Also gearing helps tremendously if you go larger tires. My 91 on 37s is slow in today's standard, but it will keep up with most 1FZs and i have owned it for a decade now.
