Looking for a new suspension as mine is quite weak (~20 years old) and has a bit of body roll (stock I suspect).

Anyone know if OME makes a system for this truck and if so, where in the catalogue it is? Part numbers? What other trucks have equivalent leafs?

If not OME, what do you suggest? I have found that Dobinson of OZ has them but no N. American reps and very expensive once they get here.

Any help is most appreciated.

As far as I know OME never built a kit for the 77. My PZJ77 had been lifted prior to me purchasing it, but seller said that he bought an OME kit and installed everything but the main leaf. I think that the spring eyes are longer than that of a BJ70. Sorry I dont have much for details, but hopefully some of this info will work.

The front springs are the same as BJ70,but the rears are longer.
Dan at 4wheelauto lifted his 77 with OME springs.
l use ZEAL springs from Japan.

I figured as much, thanks!

Spoke with Dan yesterday and he used the main stock leaf (eyelets) for the rear and the rest are 75 leafs.

Still figure the 76 series should work but no confirmation.

umm, i want you to think this through.
IF the 75 series springs did work then they would be listed as fitting the 77. you will need to fabricate your own rear lift.

I figured as the 77 was never sold in OZ (Japan only, I believe) that OME would not have anything about the 77.

Dobinsons list the front as being the same as a HZJ75 but the rears seem to be on their own.
They list the rears on the new 76 being the same as a 77

Catalogues

That the same thing I was thinking but no way to check for sure unless one knows someone with a 76 to confirm measurements.

Dobinsons are big enough to research the info. Much of their product is exported and I would bet they have it right;)

A late model 76 is about 24 1/4" from the fixed pin to the center and about 31 from the centre to the shackle. The stock pack has 5-6" of camber.

There are *J77s running around with OME suspensions so it is just a matter of finding the part numbers. Was Airlocker USA no help?

Could have sworn I answered this once but can't see/find the post. No ARB was of no use.

However, Dobinson (OZ) was kind enough to confirm the 76 rear IS the same as a 77 rear, just normal 70 series shackles. Will order the 76 rears and 73/74 front leaf. So no need to custom build or use a 75 as suggested.

Thanks RoscoFJ73 for keeping me on track.

Well I am in the final count down, have all the part numbers, Chris Dobinson was great for questions, however their kit was way too much considering the shipping, duty, taxes etc. So with their (Dobinson's) catalogue and and the international OME new catalogue I got it all straightened out. Further, I am waiting on one of their techs to check out measurements of bushings (76, 73, 75) are a bit different as are the pins and shackles. and get back to me before I finalize the order, now that I have the funds saved up. Will pick up entire kit and install in late March. Looking froward to checking out the new suspension ride.

Again, thanks for everyone's input and help! IH8MUD is the best at exactly this, technical help!

just thinking out loud
but when the 75 series changed to the 78 troopy and 79 ute the 78s/9s got longer rear springs
when they changed from a 77 would the 76 have got longer rear springs ? or was/is the wagon chassis not long enough for longer springs

Looking at Dobinson's catalogue the rear springs for a 77 are the same (p/n) as the 76. The fronts never changed so the front of 73/74/75 are the same as the fronts for a 77....Dobinson and OME catalogue are both the same.

Still w/o OME to verify the size of pins, bushings and shackles will do the trick. Then confirm order, pay for it and pick it up.

Hello,

They seem to deal with big exports sales only. Do they take smaller orders? Are prices really that high?

Juan,

Google Dobinson suspension and look at their catalogue for what you need. They have a good website, and will respond quickly to emails.

Dobinson, best springs on the market but it took them a month to get a set from their shop to the troopie in Brisbane which is an hour away.

i came very close to saying screw it and ordering a set of Dakar just for speedier service.

Jan, email and phone calls recieved, i do not have the parts your need. sorry
