The hoses going into the booster seem to be discontinued. Anyone have a good alternative part number from green gates or Napa? Otherwise, what size diameter hose to get? My 91 had very hard pedal this morning and now doesn’t go to the floor when I start it with foot on pedal. Assuming a vacuum leak or the booster is shot. Hoses are original (have changed out almost all other vacuum hoses by this point). Anything else I should be considering? Thanks.

Anyone?

Take the old hose to your FLAPS and they'll be able to find an appropriate size. 8mm or 5/16 from memory.

Edit: just rereading the issue and I'd agree with @jonheld that the booster is most likely shot. ##J80 unit should bolt up but expect to need a longer vacuum line to it.

Most likely the booster diaphragm is done, especially if it is original. Asking 33+ years from rubber parts is a bit foolish IMO.
As far as the vacuum line, measure the OD of the check valve and pick up some generic hose to match. These parts have been discontinued for at least the last 10 years.
You can likely get away with a booster from a 93+. The check valve is on the other side of the booster, but again, it's just vacuum hose. As long as you have the correct ID of the hose, it will work just fine.

A few weeks ago I installed a Cardone booster for a '97 Cruiser. Avoid Cardone, spend the money and go OEM. Cardone works but not as well as OEM. That's all I have to offer to this thread.

Now that I've had some coffee, I don't think there's a top or bottom to a booster. It could be mounted 180 out and the check valve could just be rotated in the grommet. Not 100% sure, but would be interesting to experiment.

Yes, they can be installed 180 out, well, an 80 series booster can be anyway

It was the booster. I replaced it with FZJ version this morning and bought some longer hose for the check valve on the opposite side. Now I’m back to the same old crappy FJ80 braking I’ve had since I bought it. Next project is upgrade the front brakes and replace all the soft lines.

Replaced rotors, calipers, pads with the FZJ80 bigger versions and all soft lines. Braking significantly improved.
