wow...if that thing is as good as it looks - $5000.00 is a steal. even if you need to do some heavy mechanicals...you're starting from a really nice base. the seller might not be aware of bring a trailer - that kind of truck would probably go for double...depending on close up inspection.

if you're able to do some heavy wrenching yourself - you can swap in an H55F 5 speed for about $5000.00 all-in.

Are you sure this is a legit deal? Something doesn’t seem right, I would have someone go check it out first, unless it’s a relative selling it to you, too clean for under $5K.

Get a car inspector to check it out. Usually couple hundred. Worth it to me to have a third party look it over.

I didn’t want to say this - but the “can be returned” comment in the first post is a pretty big red flag. I was hoping it’s from a family member or something.

Plenty of members on here that would go look at it for you, don’t send any money for deposit. A flight there would be a less expensive lesson. Also, the add mentions it’s a 26 year old vehicle, if it’s a 1989, then it would be 29 years old. Someone is using an old add, and trying to pass it off as theirs.

I messaged the OP. Yeah - think so. Same stickers on the windows. Same tires. Roof rack. Seat covers...

something ain’t right

5000 is a giveaway for that truck.

Wow, lots of activity here. Thank you for looking out. Stickers do not match on the vehicle (I have more photos from the seller that they’ve shared) and the ad shared is not the OP for this vehicle. Was cautious of the initial asking price. Still waiting for service records on the vehicle. This suspicion has me wanting to triple check the background for peace of mind. Any redommendations?

Considering there are ads with the photos of this truck in a few different states - I’d probably spend the $ on airfare.

So either my truck has the ground installed incorrectly or yours is incorrect. The ground I circled in the picture on the driver's side fender is installed on the exhaust manifold on mine. Hmm. The length and position looks factory. I may have to investigate.

Can any other unmolested 62's confirm?

To continue the thread in regards to your original question. When I was looking at the ground I noticed the heater valve on the firewall. The hoses connected to it have the original hose clamps on it. They look like they have never been touched. My guess is your truck needs all new coolant hoses and either you'll replace them or the truck will tell you in a not so shy manner.

FJACS tipped me off that they had seen this listing duped here and elsewhere in Florida. Seller has gone completely silent on me after further questioning. It unfortunately appears that this indeed was a bait scheme, although thankfully I was not burned this time and no money was sent. The quest to find an FJ62 of my own begins again...thanks to the many of you looking out and be cautious out there if you come across this vehicle online!

Bummer man. That sucks. I was hoping you were dealing with the legit seller, and the other ads were copies.

Good on you for doing your research before sending the money.

The search continues. Don’t be discouraged by Craigslist asking prices. Lots of folks here, myself included have bought decent rigs for cheap in the last while.

No one answered my question on the grounding point above. I'm still interested to hear from 62 owners.

makes me think about using watermarks or other security measures so No one misuses my images. Do you think if I just opened my image in paint and wrote across it ...like "not for sale" or something to that affect would that be helpful or can thieves remove it?
