my 83 fj has very low compression a round 110 -140 runs but weak i]d check exhaust heat riser ..... one good back fire can kill a brand new cat .. mufler etc.

It's not from a manual. It's from the parts microfiche. You can also find similar diagrams on the spector off road website, but without the toytoa part numbers...

man-a-fre has a couple of the skews like that with part numbers.

WTF,
Was dealing with a local toyota parts desk... Still no parts, still no parts, go in to get parts.. Head gasket kit(not what I ordered). So my window of opportunity to wrench came and went. Basically I was trying to order all the gaskets on exhaust and hardware for heatriser everything is either discontinued or back ordered for over a month.

Have another window of opportunity coming up in a month. Cruiser Dan info? I think a new manifold is around 700. Should I stop worrying about replacing gaskets that Toy discontinued? My total was around 270 in parts if they could've found them.

I wish I had my truck running. I wish I had my parts.

Oh yeah... my wifes car died and has since been replaced with a new one. First car payment in over 5 years! haha.

Get your OEM parts from Cruiserdan on this forum (Toyota parts guy) - has great prices.

I'd do some diagnostics before I pulled the head - it's a bag o worms. Charge up the battery, pull the coil wire, & have someone else crank it while you do a compression test. If possible, borrow the equipment to do a leak-down: it'll tell you whether rings or valves, & which valves.

I just wanted to replace exhaust side of the house and see if I could get it back and running. Dont want to turn it into a bigger project than need be, thank you for the advice. Do you know if CruiserDan only does OEM parts? Some of the parts I needed are discontinued, or only sold as part of kits.

What parts for a 2F are you looking for that have been discontinued?

The only thing I cannot get for mine is the electrical connector coming from the sensor that the carb fan plugs into. (Don't tell anybody my rig is not 100% stock)

s***t...I find myself jumping to 3rd gear climbing a hill. And the drop from 15MPG (closer to 11) is what I've had for years.

Cruiser Dan is awesome! I've gotten a lot of stuff from him in the last month.

I'm accumulating lots of parts so that on my next long weekend, I can get most of this stuff on my rig.

He has great price and ship very quickly.

Just an update,
Local guys got it right, and gave me a good price. Had to order the intake/exhaust manifold as an assembly. As a note, this assembly doesnt come with the donut gasket. I'm happy I got all the parts, now I just need some time to get em put in.

UPDATE!!!! Cant get the three exhaust nuts off, but all other bolts for manifold is loosened... Its been on the street and got its first ticket yesterday, which has made this a project that is either going to the mechanic or a lucky cruiserhead that can act fast. AS IS $3500obo.

I have all the new toyota parts to finish the intake/exhaust manifold job. The odometer is at 200k on this 86 FJ60. I have no time or garage to get this done, and have been riding my bicycle for the last 4 months. With a baby and going to school and working full time, it's time to let the Cruiser go. This one has been good to me, and I'll definitely be buying another one down the line. I'm sad, but cant swing it. I'm in San Diego, Ocean Beach. Time is short so if someone show interest by lunch, I wont tow it to the mechanics. I've replaced the clutch within 35k, slave and master clutch cylinders, front axle rebuild, new windshield, and loved it along the way.

thanks for the heat riser pics, what does the back side look like(sided without spring)? Mine backed off and flopped over inside, just want to know what hardware is missing and in need of replacement. If this doesnt work, I'll continue on... air quality is getting better here as the fires arent raging as bad. So if this aint the fix, i'll be back to peddling until i can fix it.

If this has been addressed then sorry, but because of all the smoke and fires...did you ever check your air filter?

I had to order a whole new intake exhaust manifold, because I couldnt get ahold of just the piece parts for the heatriser manifold, but havent been able to loosen exhaust bolts... so I'm stuck, and have to sell as is or fix it then sell, but its going and I'll continue to ride the bike until I have a garage and cash to build a cruiser the right way. I have the KN filter and cleaned it, it hasnt ran for a while and is now collecting tickets. I love it but dont need it so it must go, but I know I'll be back someday.

Scheduled to be picked up by tow at 9am 1/17/08 to be sent to sdtruckshop for repairs... unless someone wants it before then.

PUT me out of my Misery...

Must go,

I am out $600++ on parts, $600 on labor, and still dont have a running FJ60! I am ready to cut my losses. I cant swing it right now, hopefully someone in the san diego area can. $1200 takes it. I just cant afford the 1500++ to have the head rebuilt by the mechanic. I ride my bicycle and will continue to do so. I'm done, this would be a good project for someone, just not a young father with a high mortgage(me) must go! $1200
