I have a 86 land cruiser diesel. The orange filter light, the park brake light and the battery light come on. Once in a while when I drive down a rough road all those lights go out and every thing is normal for a while. Then the next time I look at the dash those 3 lights are back on. Any help would be great.

Sounds possibly like a 60 series, but need more info. The problem also sounds like a earthing issue,

I think I remember alternator brushes can do this when they are worn. Do a search for brushes and see if you find similar stories.

Thanks for your help Breckinridge that led me to a post that told me to check my charge lamp relay. Sure enough the relay is no good. So now I just have to see if my alternator is what caused the relay to pile up

Glad I could help, even if your issue is not the brushes! Let us know what you discover with your alternator... I'm swapping one tomorrow so I can change the brushes out of the current one.

Load tested alternator. Every thing seems ok I'm getting just over 28 volts at 1500rpm

Check belts make sure they are tight.
Try disconnecting the alt. plug, regrease with dielectric grease.
Pretty common on the HDJ81 the unplug seems to offer a temporary cure.
