I'm not sure on how to ask but here it goes. How do you check that the vent flaps are closing correctly or making sure that all the internals are correct for the defrost. The thing is when I put the selector in defrost it seems like more is going to the floor than to defrost. I took the white cabel off and pulled on the white plastic piece that controls the flap / direction on the what Im going to call a air control and it still has a lot of lost air going to the floor. Is there or better yet with truck age WAS there a piece of something around the ducting on the inside that could have worn out / off? Or has anyone looked into this before. Thanks in advance for any info.

The duct flaper doors inside the air box have foam around the edges that has most likely worn out and disentigrated since our trucks are 25 years old now. if you are loosing very much air to the floor then you may have something jammed in the duct or possibly something binding. the only way to be sure is to take the whole dash apart. It is a real job but can be done in a day. It may not be worth the trouble. good luck.
