Hey all,
Was wondering if my front seatbelts are broken. When pulled hard and fast they don’t lock up, is there an issue? Or do they work by another mechanism? Thanks

I have the same experience with my belts. I spoke with seatbelt planet about this and they said that those older belts need to be pulled fast in order to lock up. Apparently newer designs lock up way quicker. I replaced my rears with three points but I have not done the front ya yet. Makes me a little sketched about the locking and I’ll replace them in the near future.

FJ60 belts use a little pendulum in the mount at the bottom of the B pillar that moves during rapid acceleration/deceleration to lock the reel. As far as I know, no amount of pulling on the belt will lock them. Most modern cars use a centrifugal lock that you’re probably used to and can lock by pulling quickly.
