:confused:I'm just dangerous enough to actually know what a socket wrench is for. To give myself more credit is too scary.

Hence this question; Starter intermittently clicks and then catches and starts. Battery boost does no good. Alternator fine. Runs great once it's running. I'm thinking starter solenoid, right?

Can someone give me "starter theory course". What's making it click?
Solenoid is perched on the side of the starter, right? I'm thinking that to replace the solenoid, I've gotta' pull the starter, disconnect solenoid, replace and stick the starter back in and voila' , is there much more to it?:steer:

just get a new starter its cheaper and easier. Mine did that for about a week and all of a sudden it stoped working all together.

I pulled mine and took it to a shop. They rebuilt it for 60 bucks. Good to go.

chevy is famus for starters that have a bad spot in the winding. in the short term before replacement carry a BFH and give it a wack if it wont start.

replacement is best bet then you know all stuff is okay. buy a good one though advance auto stuff is cheap and doesnt work half the time. napa is better.

He definitely knows. And gives a discount to MUD members with a silver star, and TLCA members.

I spent a while trying to get NAPA or other aftermarket parts for my 60, then found him, and haven't done anything but OEM since.
