One note, 31s will make you very conscious of how much weight you are dragging around. A full tank of gas will cost you a gear on some hills, as will a passenger. On 29s it is a little more forgiving.
 
I’ve never been a big fan of BFG’s all-terrain. They look good but I personally think they suck off-road compared to other A/Ts. The tread design gets packed up extremely quick in the mud and snow and NEVER cleans out. The first gen KOs were rock hard and always seemed to slip instead of grip. KO2s seemed to be softer but to each their own. My buddy just got a set of Falken wild peaks on his 87 runner last year and he loves them. They do great in the mud and snow and bite really well in rock gardens. Just my 2 cents
