Was the 83' Fj60 equiped with a key in the ignition warning beep?

My 84 dings like hell. I wish it didn't. I was thniking about disconecting that feature. However, I don't get a warning if I leave my lights on! and yes... I have left them on. I usually catch it before it's too late.

My '83 doesn't make a peep with the keys left in the ignition. Of course there's a lot of "custom" stuff done by the PO, so who knows...

Just replaced my ignition switch on a '85 FJ60. The key warning switch is two wires that connect to a little white switch just in front of the key. Real simple to check or disconnect if you remove the steering console cover.

Ignition beep- Yes

Lights on beep- NO- wish I had one of those!

that drives me nuts! i don' t need the beep for the keys in the friggin ignition, but my dumb arse has not problem leaving the lights on and coming out to a dead battery because there is no warning beep!

I added an aftermarket buzzer for the headlights. Its easy to plug into the fuse panel and has saved me a couple of times. I think I got it from JC Whitney for 5$.

hmmm,, none of my 60/2's beep........or at least I don't recall em beeping, if they did I wouold have discontected it anyway ;)

I'm disconencting my key beep, and screw it, I won't drive with headlights anymore.

Well with that big a$$ ARB you run up front...i doubt you would have any problems running without headlights.

FWIW, there are no beeps, dings nor buzzers in my rig.
Not even the horn. :(

I gotta get that light buzzer! wow. I've left them on 4 times in three months. That's what I get for driving to work at day break.

I thought only women did that :D

there is something called a Battery Buddy or Priority Start, it disconects the battery if the voltage drops below a certain point, then you just press a botton and it reconects so you can start up, really pretty slick, about $50

You can do the same thing with 2 relays a 12 volt light bulb and some thinking. Only cost you 5-10
