Just picked up a Warn 8274 that works, but wanting to rebuild it, looks like its been not used in a long while.....so my question is where are you buying rebuild kits from, any recommendations?

Want to buy synthetic rope as well, I think its 3/8's

Ive watched a few you tube vids on tearing one apart, looks ezy pzy ;)

Individual parts and seal kits can be purchased on Amazon and through 4x4 suppliers.

Thanks gents, I ended up buy parts off of Ebay through various venders

Thanks mojo will do ;)

Rebuilding the 8274 has been going well...fitting it into an ARB bullbar was a lot of work because the grill on the LX-450 I think sticks out more than a 80 series....so I had to add a 1 1/4" to the ARB so I can get all the mounting bolts bolted up on the frame.

What kind of rope are y’all replacing your cable with and what’s the longest length our spools will hold?

I run 100' of 3/8" synthetic line one mine, and carry an extension for it (but have never used it).

The spool is built to hold 150' of 5/16" line. If you don't fill it up all the way, you get more pulling power with fewer winds on the spool. I guess it depends on how long of pulls you typically do, or how long you have to run out to get to a winch anchor, in the kind of terrain that you like to wheel in.

3/8" nylon shrinks while being wound onto the spool, doesn't it?

Reason I ask, I'm wanting 150' for mine.

What vendor?

It compresses so there's no air space between the winds, if you spool it on under tension, but I don't know that it shrinks.

I bought mine from Viking, but I think they may not be in business now.

Scott - holy beejeejus that's a lot of hacking on that poor bumper. Do you have a pic of the lower horz bar from a little further way? I'm wanting to see the ends and how they tuck back in. Thanks.

Added 3" to ARB box tubing to stick out enough for winch clearing grill...

The hardest part was finding and re-drilling for mounting bumper up...I used a plasma cutter for this...

a few pics of adding 3" to box frame of ARB...got 6 bolts bolted up per left and right side...12 bolts total on frame

Holy schmoly dude, that's a metric ton of work and it came out nice. Kudos.

You chose to extend the bumper 3" in order to avoid cutting into the grill, correct?

Yes!....I just couldnt see cutting that much grill, it would have been a lot...
