8274 advice please

This winch is local to me. Owner says it is hardly used and he has the cover. He says it works good and brake is good. How much is it realistically worth? I've looked at for sale section but you never know the actual sold price. Do you see anything wrong with it in the pic? What to look for?

Even if it works, you'll end up re-building it just to make sure. You'll definitely want to replace the roller fairlead and it looks like there is more rust on the drum and brake. IMO it's worth $200-300, and you will spend that much or more again on rebuilding it. Much more if you end up replacing the solenoid pack and/or the motor. Still better than paying $1800 for a new one though.

I bought one off CL for $250.00 last year. It needed nothing and now lives on the front of my 40. Good luck.
