I'm looking at a 1981 toyota hilux, 22r, 5 speed. Minimal rust, he tells me that, " It burns a little oil. Not bad for its age. Could probably use the carburetor rebuilt for smoother running. The driver door doesn't open ( it use to so I don't know.) and the biggest problem is slack in the shifter. It's hard to get in the right gear. 4x4 works. Brakes works. I was driving it regular until I bought my new truck" I offered him 1200 he said ok. Is it worth it? Thanks everyone.

If it was me I'd maybe pay $800 for that. The bed needs work inside does not look that great and who knows about how she was maintained

Yeah he wanted 1800 for it but I think that is high, but I'm a landcruiser guy and never really priced hiluxs before.

That is high considering all the issues.

It all depends on your market really, lower mainland BC those trucks are worth a small fortune for some silly reason. My brother in law in southern Ontario can pick up a rusty truck for $300 that would go for $3000 on the west coast. We have less rust, but still rust.

I didn't end up getting it, just didn't seem like a good time to buy another rig. Thank you for all the help everyone.
