Good luck with the drive shaft, having the same issues with the grrrr, even with new u-joints. Def the front shaft issue. I'm very interested in your results.

Some info on the caster plate install thread.

Chris, it starts with the hydro. but i can tell now you will end up with a custom housing. :)

I'm reserving a fully unbiased review until I have an opportunity to isolate an exhaust rattle (result of wheeling carnage last weekend. It was already an issue) and until another 80 owner, whose has experienced the vibration issues can validate my findings.

Considering the amount that would love to see this a complete failure, crossing T's and dotting I's, but initially all's good.

Few things to note.

First, I have a different set up than 99.9% of 80s in the US, that requires a longer front drive shaft and has little similarity to any pinion angles current caster correction produces.

Second. I will not post the cost of the shaft.

My advice to any considering is to contact Jess at High Angle, or Ben Swain at Slee, the latter fully capable of producing the same shaft, a notable contributor, and already having some degree of knowledge regarding a double, double DCs capability.

I spoke with Ben at Slee and we discussed this at length. Slee's price was substantially lower than HAD's, but the guarantee from Jess came at a premium. I based the decision on the current collection of shafts I already have that are useless to me.

The other option is to source two Taco shafts and build locally, but considering the expense, my vote would be one of the above, or contact Rick to see if he's any interest in building.

Alot if this shaft stuff we did near 10 years ago. As rick or anyone if they are interested in building housings. Solong as they go to a great extent for accuracy. And know what they are doing. It will be a best seller.

And yes Chris. You have a WELL set up rig in regards to caster, axle relocation and bush deflection (travel). If only you'd ditch that damn from sway bar and see it in all its glory :).

Pretty much, as Jess put it, a correction for an improperly set up axle, but stated it'd work. So far, no vibrations, but the exhaust resonates inside the cab dive I squashed it into the frame and rear cargo floor, I can't definitely say its a 100% cure.

Fix the exhaust, then we'll know, but I agree it's a band aid of sorts, but working within the given confines of the platform and my fab capabilities, a fix, so to speak.

I agree on the housing being the correct way.

They're everywhere here, in aftermarket form. The housing producers buy up all the 80 housings they can for the knuckles and will weld to your spec. Mostly for mini trucks and buggies, but considering my goal of maintains some OE resemblance, may be a viable means to do so.

As for the economics, the housings are relatively cheap, and already have the best internals that OE can be, but the little voice in my head debates the merits of even that.

It won't fit with the new DS. The joint is so much larger, it cut an 1" if clearance out ( where I assume ) even with the bar disconnected.

Hoping the Radflo's can assist in mitigating body roll. Will have kick ass (at least, I'm proud of the work. Ha) sway bar drops for sale soon.

The shocks will be a dramatic improvement. Coming off a few shelves, the front wheels stopped short and can only attribute to the lack of down travel.

To reduce you body roll numbers. Raise the front and rear panhards to correct your roll axis. Easily 50% better and much more stable on and off road. Combined with well tuned shocks, you'd be surprised.

But again raise the panhard mounts comes back to housing modifications. Someone over there is so much better spending their time and money with a complete fix, for all drive line, caster and geometry problems. They might think its expensive at first. But after its installed they will say its the best thing since sliced bread.

Because I don't have the left hand drive housings here.

You will have to convert.
Housing
1450 x 300 x 300mm
35kg

Optional high steer.
300 x 300 x 300mm
13kg

Rear housing also?

Don't know how good I'd do at driving from passenger side. Haha. Joking.

Lighter note. Installed HIR's I unknowingly purchased from a Mud vendor, and actually appears to be much improved on H. Can't tell about L, yet.

Of course now that i've dug up 5 LX wheels......;)

I move at the speed of snot, so don't fret. It may be a year before fruition.

Not like I don't have anything else in front of. Haha.

If you're seriously considering the 345 KM2s, start the search now. They're getting hard to come by.

Ya.. I've been looking off and on for the 345's for a couple months now to go with the LX wheels - Nothing !! Likely a blessing in disguise as they'd only lead to more expense for gears/etc...

I've heard they'll ramp production up after KOH.

Now, honestly, I wouldn't have ever thought that an event that sized would impact tire production, but supposedly came from someone who'd know......for what that's worth.

I have a buyer for your 345s.

:)

They really must be getting scarce. Never thought my used rubbers would be sought after, but they are big and bulbous.

Who doesn't like that?

Sounds like it'll be a bit. ALL BFG products are scarce and the replacements are ever elusive.

Sliders done and ready for paint.

Can't put too much larger a gusset due the lip on rocker, but a little added strength.

Hoping to have diff armor done today, bumper straightened and gusseted tomorrow.
