As anyone found any nice alternative steering wheels for a '93 80 series? I want one without the "T" shaped design. No airbag required.

If yours is in decent shape, I might help you fund a new one. That is a non-airbag one, correct?

It's mint, other than being a bit polished from gentle use. No rips, tears or damage. The lower part of the "T" bugs me, I want to put my hand in the middle of the bottom area of the wheel on long trips and this wheel design doesn't accommodate that.

Maybe I'm just being a bit picky here, but I put 9000 miles on my LC in five weeks last summer and I want a different wheel!! :)

I would bet you could install the '95 & up style wheel without putting the airbag in.

You will be hard pressed to find an aftermarket steering wheel that is not "T-shaped". I was looking on ebay at JDM Toyota/MOMO steering wheels and they all have the t-shape (which I don't mind, BTW).

As far as OEM goes, the 100 series has an "I-shaped" steering wheel. Fitting it might be an issue and they all will have air bags.

I will jump in line to buy your current steering wheel if you find a replacement.

put the original one on up side down?:p

Ha! That would be great, except for the fact that it would obstruct the view of the gauge cluster! :)

I would bet that the splines are the same, just have to make sure the airbag is diso'd and gone since I don't think there is a way to connect it up in a non-airbag rig.

Nice

My steering wheel is the original - grey colour - no airhag. Around the top hemisphere the material is all cracking and close to starting to come away after 26 years of Aussie sun exposure.

Looking to just buy a new one (genuine if I can, but the later version). I don't like aftermarket steering wheels for a 4wd as it's meant to be functional not poofy looking. ;)

Does the steering shaft spline where the wheel attaches stay the same specification right through, at least for the non-airhag ones?

Craig.
