Hi,

I have my eye on a set of rims for my 80. They're 16x9" wide, 0 offset. Does anyone have experience as to whether this will run comfortably without rubbing etc.? I'm considering running anywhere from 31" to 33" depending on what I can fit.

Thanks!

9" rim us too wide for a 33 or 31" tire IMO.

The rim should be fine, but better suited to a taller wide tire

The rim width makes no difference for the tire diameter, but tire width. Will work fine for a 33x12.50 (305/75R16) but be too wide for the narrower width 31s and 33s. Can't speak of the offset.

You'll be fine. I have 17x9.5" with 285 tires, 4.5" BS, no rubbing at all. Have easily run 305's at stock height (a few years back) with no rubbing.

also, for fittament (IMHO) you need to pay more attention to backspacing (BS) than offset, as this will dictate how close the tire is to the frame at full turn. Offset is where the center point of the mount is at (and dictates how far the wheel sticks out from the side. Wider rims with offset pushing them out can affect ride characteristics, but can cause premature wear on wheel bearings if too far neg or pos.

Yeah, but partly disagree.
The OP hasn't mentioned tire width.

I've previously found a wide run leaves tires more prone to getting debris stuck in the bead when wheeling and aired down.
It was a problem constantly when I had 295/75 R 16 on 10" rim. Put the same tires into 8" rim and the problem was gone.
I think tire diameter and height of the side wall plays a part.

This issue is rubbing, according to the OP. On a 31", you would have to run a crazy backspace to try to get it to rub. If the 33 is anywhere near 4.5 BS, should be no issue.

Thanks all for your replies, they're all much appreciated. Based upon the information I've got I'm confident I can go ahead with my choice of wheel. I'll be sure to upload photos when they're eventually fitted. I haven't much experience with aftermarket wheels so it's good to hear from experience.
