Hi

does anyone know if alternative Toyota diff fit into a 80 series front diff ? or if you can get just the ring and pinion from something else to fit
;)
Thanks in advance

the front is a high pinion so nothing i know of will swap over. i mean i guess you could put a mini truck front in but if you are still full time 4wd then it wont be happy. what are you trying to do?

Hi

I have a off road car which is solely for off road use , has land cruiser 80 series axles and land rover chassis, just seeing if there was an alternative ring and pinion or diff which would fit in our diff casing or change whole diff as we have broken the ring and pinion on our front diff

70 series 8" high pinion will bolt in. Post 1990 to current. Also 105 series 98 - 06. Don't know how hard these models are to find in the UK though.

Available toyota ratios are 4.3, 4.11, 4.1, 3.9, 3.73. Aftermarket you can also get 4.56, 4.88, 5.29.

Great thanks so a 70 series will bolt straight in 4.11 ratio also?
Im sure i will be able to find some , i know a guy who deals with all sorts of land cruisers ,
Thanks for your help

We are still breaking 4.11 though this is the second time this has happened now , the ring and pinion kits are expensive and so is a replacement diff :frown:
i have a couple of options to look at i guess do you know of any sites online who would ship to uk ?

Who's doing your gear setup? Are you sure it's spot on? There has been a lot of proof that gear setup is absolutely critical with these front diffs. Also some have tried cryo treating for ultimate strength.

Good luck!

Post up a picture of your off-road car! Thanks

Stop backing up in difficult situations with the steering wheel turned. These are KNOWN weak links in that situation. Stay out of the throttle when doing that.
