First: I never said it was your job. But, thank you for clarifying.

Why did you accuse me of not follow up on the 2 posts you listed then?

Second: I never said Phil's questions are for you. Again, thank you for clarifying.

Why did you accuse me of not follow up on Phil's question then?

Third: I asked Mike about the cost of caster plate installation. Either this is a sensitive subject for you, or you think all of the questions I ask are awaiting your response.
By continuing to focus on me, you keep changing the subject...how is Steve going to make an educated decision? Should he follow Phil's advice:
https://forum.ih8mud.com/showpost.php?p=8814313&postcount=15

I didn't focus on you. I focus on the fact that how you are going to make your costs comparison. Question was asked about washer mod cost and I didn't see Kevin responded to that, which is why I asked if you are going to volunteer some info for comparison. Otherwise your inquiry on plates installation cost for comparison is meaningless. There is nothing to compare to.

Fourth: I respectfully disagree. They are both asking questions to help them compare two options. They did not ask specifically about cost. Which is fine, they're rich! Me, not so much. Total cost, for both solutions, matter to me. Cost should be considered for a more complete pro/con analysis (which is a technique used to compare different options).

I agree that total cost should be considered in the comparison analysis, but so far there is no washer mod cost info unless you volunteer.

I disagree that they are asking the same questions. We just have to agree to disagree.

Fifth: What is it, you want me to volunteer? I have shown you every receipt or told you the cost of every mod I've ever done or had done to my 80. Including work done at Kevin's shop.

I was planning to give Steve, my informed opinion. But, it is Kevin, who has the most informed opinion. He is the only one who has installed these plates without you and/or Phil helping out. And he has done several washer mods.

Did I do something wrong for not disclosing everything I know about you on the internet?

Some readers may refer back to a previous post and believe Cook and Brittan installed these plates by themselves. I will let you clarify and/or add the necessary caveats to that post, as your time permits. I know it isn't your job.

Yes, readers should believe that both Brittan and Cook installed their plates by themselves. Both Brittan and Cook had their caster plates installed on one side of their rigs without my help. When I arrived at Brittan's house, I was tasked to buy a wrench at Sears and thread locker. I bought the thread locker at Checker. I then came back to help out with the rest of the installation. We had pizza and Gatorade at Cook's place after it was all done, then a BS session. Did I miss anything else?

So, I have a rig in the air, apart, ask a simple question about installation of a product designed/sold here and it sets off a nitpicking, flame war, when a simple link to the install would have worked. Got the info from JJ and the Slee site, should have gone there first!:o

What a drama king automotive repair shop owner. I wasn't going to say anything but you came back for more.

In responding to your bolt on post, I pointed out that nobody has claimed the plates are bolt on and posted a link for installation instructions. You got pissy, declaring you will post less here and edited your posts to "Misleading." Now, you are calling it nitpicking and flame war. Geez!!!!

What a surprise? Not constructive, productive and helpful

:flipoff2: You expected something different :flipoff2:

I find your reply to peoples posts both exciting and entertaining. Carry on...

With all the activity the caster plates thread has received maybe another run of the EZ to install caster plates is in order.

Again these caster plates give the exact same amount of caster correction with the same ease of install as other popular brand like slee, metal tech, and other. With a J lift it will put your caster at the top of the factory spec.

Post up if you are interested.

Will they come with free thread locker? :hhmm:
:)

No but as before a link to EZ install instruction will still be included.

Some previous feedback on the results of the caster plates and the ease of installation

Too late for me, I had the caster/washer mod installed at Desert Tools. :)

Phil, did you weld your caster plates to your 80? Is that part of the installation process for the more expensive caster plates?

I do like the way your 80 handles. It definitely holds its line on the road :). And you and Rudster made the installation look easy!!

Excellent report card. I drove LCP's 80 last night and I am thinking about MT caster plate group buy now.

It's true Phil, your truck does drive superbly. I hope my rig drives that nice after I go part time and install plates.

I drove Phil's 80 into work today :steer: for some research.

After replacing the front control arm poly caster busings with non-caster rubber and installing the new caster plates I wanted to check two things:
1) To check and see where the caster readings measured up on the Hunter alignment machine and see where they landed.
2) Also to get a seat of the pants feel with the new set up.

Toyota caster reading from the factory are +2.0 to +4.0. The new set up resulted on +3.3 (L) and +3.5(R) which is nicely in the specs.

I feel that a caster bushing correction (like on my personal 80 and what Phil was running prior) makes for a great driving 80 and I wouldnt hesitate to put my wife in it to drive across the country.

With that being said, the improvement was still impressive. The steering is more stable and seems to "roll over" or absorb road imperfections. I noticed it first when going into my driveway over the street curbing and how the harshness seemed less. There is minimized effort of those minor corrections as you roll down the street.

for comparison, my similarly lifted 80 with yellow caster bushings (approx 2 degrees) come in at +.5 and +.6.

It basically puts the caster back to original settings like it was the 80 was a stock mall cruiser.

C'mon, leave Phil alone! He's just trying to make a boat payment

:eek:Im in BIG trouble because I have never made a boat payment or any vehicle payment for that matter;)

Also the proceeds from the last caster group buy when to buy pizza and drinks for Brittens going away party that you enjoyed without as much as a thank you.

You and me both. Only difference, I'm not constantly peddling my wares...

You being president and making sales pitches at club meetings etc. is a conflict of interest.
I was originally for you being president. I thought you were gonna do some stuff to make the club better. But, the self proclaimed richest dude on the forum can't help but take money from club members.

I could see if someone

You dont even produce income and I dont see why you would want to go down that road.

The prior president was and is operating an auto repair shop for profit.

Me offering parts I'm not building should not be a conflict of any interest.

Im not the president just trying to get the club on the right track.....You positive input would be a welcome change and appreciated. Come on John drop the hate and try a little kindness and it will come back.

Did you delete the post where you told Kevin you'd take him up on his offer to be president....
I don't feel like looking for it...

What help do you need?

How can I thank you, if every time I walk up to you, you walk away? I noted this to Jackson and Mark at the last cruise- after your sales pitch, of course. They said they didn't know why you did that....

I dont see anything positive coming out this discussion when you keep reaching. So Im done with you on this here. If you want to set down confront me on anything I have nothing to hide. I will make schedule open for you anytime.

Time to get this thread back on track.

Which mod do you loose less ground clearance with? The plate mod or the washer mod?

Thank you for your apology! Very charitable...

I thought there was a conflict of interest. But, since you are not the president, I have no beef. I don't want to confront you in private, that's no fun :)

Seriously, I was still editing that post, when I accidentally hit "return" instead of "delete", you can tell by reading the last line...I wasn't planning to attack you personally! I don't have any problems with you personally. I think you have a lot going for you, what's not to like?!

Anyway, I still have some questions about CSC. We can move it offline per your request.
Let's meet early next week. I have mostly 9am-2pm available.

The front control arms are the lowest point on both setup(at least with the CSC plates). The difference if any will be :meh:. With that said both set ups are designed and do correct caster.

Again there is nothing wrong with the washer mod I talked with Kevin about and looked at seriously but in the end it was not able to give me the amount of correction I wanted.

Many of you are quick to judge but only to criticize and create drama. I ask what have you done to promote club spirit, club events, or anything to make the club stronger? Many new members want to get involved but are hesitant due to the bullying from the few.:frown:

Up until several months ago CSC only had 12 new members in the last 2 years:frown:and was going nowhere! Yet in the last several months we have seen ~50 new members, several from another local club., and some of the largest meeting turn outs since BMan. I can tell you from the feedback I receive they would prefer non of your drama and ask that you stop the attempt bullying and take it somewhere else. If you dont like where CSC is going propose change in an educated adult manner or go elsewhere. Pretty simple....

I don't have a dog in this fight, but I have yet to see how it would be a conflict of interest for anyone to sell their products here even if they were the President. Innovative creations made by fellow mudders are awesome and help fulfill a need that big companies don't care for in our niche market. Im glad we have folks that think outside the box and make their products available to the rest of us.

I am confused, if you look at this thread and were it started to get confrontational, it appears to me it was not from a "sheep" but a simple inquiry on installation.

There are several of us who volunteer for helping the Tonto National Forest Service and our events are scheduled in advance and the rides that have happened with CSC are on those days. This includes the Four Peaks Cleanup that was held on Nov 2nd which was originally put together by CSC and happens around the same time each year (just after Halloween) but many CSC members attented the Desoto Mine trip on that day.

I encourage those who want to wheel to get involved with TRAL and help keep trails open, clean and help educate OHV enthusiasts especially if you have kids. Imagine a world without OHV recreation and your kids not ever being able to see the things we have seen so much of. That would be a sad world IMHO.

I am however trying to find the meaning of bullying. As of late the definition is all over the media in sports and hearing that word used here I am trying to find were it applies. :hhmm:
