It's saying up to 75% considering the torque converter in the auto transmission. I'm guessing their considering the slippage before lockup. I've always wondered if it made a difference in ratio. I wheel manual so it would seem like yes, you could get a gear reduction, but it would be unpredictable because hitting an obstacle would cause more or less slippage and it wouldn't be as controlled as if you just had straight gear reduction. Thoughts from Auto drivers?

I had the same conversation with Woody and asked him the question is the little difference worth justifying the cost and he said absolutely most of the time those behind him think his break lights don't work :lol:
 
That Arkansas rock is hard on some tires I had 45 mins to lay around and inspect things waiting for the tow home and I'll be shopping for tubes this week I have 3 out of 4 that are cut up pretty good. I question whether a tube will work on the factory aluminum rims but we will see. I'm probably pushing it with these tires they have decent tread but after 3 + years worth of on and off trail wear they're looking abused.

People know my brake lights work because I have to use them going uphill. Hopefully, I'll be able to get 4.7's next year.

Ark rocks hard on tires.....no way!

PS - Anyone selling a set of 37's-38's? I'm still looking for a set after the ARK issues last year.

Yea I remember the Ark rocks giving you some trouble as well, if I run across any deals on 37/38's I'll pass it your way bud.

Them rocks are hard on the knees too! They are VERRY sharp!! :crybaby:

Definitely mad max style and would be very nice on an 80 buggy.

It's not a high priority, actually nothing really is anymore, but I would like to do something like this after I build my front bumper. These are from Bink's Fab and the link is below as well. I like their bumpers too!

I love the look, but when you start hitting them hard, what is the next point of weakness. What's gonna start bending then, just crunch the hood and cowl under the glass... Looks sweet though.

Awesome, thanks for the link Justin. Your right Cody you beef up one area to shift the weak link somewhere else but just like we're never done with a build or the wish list of mods we want to do to them (unless your one of the fortunate guys with the stack of cash to do whatever you want) we'll continue to keep beefing it up and moving those weak links around and never be completely where we want it. A lot like our mods list or until you get to that point where you've done enough to be satisfied and start or another :D Que the "down with the sickness" beat :lol:

Do any of you guys here in the South have experience with Maxxis Bighorn MT tires?
I've seen them work well on an '80, but that was in deserts and rocks out west, in AZ and UT...

We might 'wheel our 80 (that lives here in BTR...) here in the Southeast after all, so the Michelin 285s are not going to cut it...

Can't say I've seen anyone in our club run them before, curious how they hold up for both road and trail needs.
