Nice Plan! When I installed my snorkel I used aluminum nutserts (or rivetnuts) and machined SS screws on the A pillar. Not sure if that's what you mean by captured nuts, but I can ship you my nutsert tool if you don't have access to one and I can get it back from you at SCC. That would be much cheaper than buying one of those boogers.

Thanks bud will talk to you this afternoon I did mean rivetnuts, I think Paul has one but if he doesn't I'll take you up on it :)

Got one done last night was a bit off from the thread I was following but I like it a little better I hugged the hood line and pushed a bit more to the rear. The uncut triangle in the rear is main cross-member so I didn't want to cut it. It'll allow enough air out and the triangle is about the size of the last louvre so it worked out. Hope to get the other side done tonight will keep the neighbors up one more night :D

Oh my  .... What does it look like from the backside?

What did the vents come off of originally?

GTP mid nineties

How hard was it to make that first cut Larry? :D
Strangely not hard at all, funny I'd have plenty reservations drilling or cutting on my 40's but have none when it comes to the 80. Maybe it something to do with the abundance of parts if I screw up :)

completely open to let all that hot air out, I have the drip trays that go on the underside of the hood but they wouldn't allow much of the hot air out it very restricted so I won't be using them :)

What did the vents come off of originally?
94 thru 96 Pontiac GTP factory louvers

Here they are on a white hood

Looking Good Larry!

I have a request to the fellow 80 owners. Can someone post the lengths of their brake lines, from the end of the connections, and state whether they are the extended or OEM Lengths? The PO had braided lines installed on mine and the measurements I pulled do not match what I can find for either extended. So I would like to verify what I have.

Thanks. I can get you a measurement off of mine this evening when I get home. I have the extended braided lines .

The cutting and grinding work are done a big thanks to Paul for adding a few spot welds for the extra support. I dropped off the parts to a friend for the paint work today. I thought about taking it on myself but I don't have time to mess it up and then redo in time to make the event.

Was a drill bit short of getting the rivnuts in today, out of three boxes of drill bits of course I don't have the right size. Hope to knock that out tomorrow. I gotta quit stripping it down and start going back together this week, plenty sanding, rust proofing and painting to do :)

Very nice!

me like!

Thanks, getting a hold of some good vents was the hardest part I was able to order one new but the other side was discontinued and not available. The two sets I got off Ebay one or two of screw holes on the vents were broken and didn't want to trust my epoxy job. Should let off some heat on the trails though :)
