Going to do one of these options soon here is a good thread that shows a range of options.

Since the paint is starting to bake off the center of the hood as of recently I finally pulled the trigger on some GTP vents yesterday. I looked for a pair of the Lumina Z34 vents on and off for a while and never was able to get a pair heck even the GTP vents are hard to come by. I looked to order a set new but everywhere I looked they were discontinued and not available so I saw a set on Ebay yesterday and pulled the trigger. I will be calling one of you for a hand to pull the hood next week after they come in so I can get it on some horses to do some cutting

IdahoDoug said:The hood trick avoided having to refit the hood to the hinge, as they don't bolt onto holes, but use slots for factory adjustment. It was a nightmare, so I put masking tape on both the hinge and as close as possible on two sides. Then, I drew continuous lines across the gaps to use later in realigning it. Worked beautifully as we just lined up the lines and tightened it up for a test closing and ended up dead on the first time.
Awesome Larry! I followed IdahoDoug's advice when pulling the hood and it works like a champ... See below![]()
Tech people smarter than me...I have a question...
When I fully reviewed the thread and all of the comments about the winch and install, it sounds like the 12k winch needs its own battery. Is that true?
Then there is a bunch of controversy about the fairlead. Any thoughts on that?
Thanks,
Eric
yes a winch should have/ needs it`s own battery with a charge insulator.
rolling fairlead puts less stress on winch line whether it be syn or wire
Well crap...that changes things!
From what I have gathered, it's for that odd case that you are stuck up crap creek, and you winch for a long time, your altenator can't keep up, you get to 3/4 of the way up, and truck kills. Well now your stuck unable to start it.
Where as, you have 2 batteries, one only for truck necessities, one with only assessories. So same situation. Alt can't keep up with winch, you get low on juice, so winch stops working, so you have to wait while altenator recharges second battery, which winch killed, but your ok, because truck is still running off 1st battery.

Paul, why do you say that a winch needs it's own battery? Good alternator + good battery = good to go!
Paul,
What kind of winch set up do you have on your 80?
Thanks,
Eric
