Thanks again bud gonna put this in the 80 section

Man i could not remember where i posted this, i was about to post it again, haha.

FYI with the timing bump will need to go to premium but that is what they are supposed to use actually:D

Paul i ran 89 octane after the timing adjustment and never noticed any knocking or anything like that.
I did notice a power increase and increase in mileage from this. went from 12-12.5hwy to 13.5-14.5hwy. The guy that bought my 80 said that he got between 14-16mpg on his drive back home to MT. For a heavily modded 80, thatsa pretty darn good, haha.

Any idea on that price estimate for the ARB locker install on the rear of the 100?

Thanks Larry.
It was definitely a nice rig. I am sure i will miss it more the second i hit the trails. Will definitely miss the SFA and fr/rr lockers, ha.

You can't go wrong with any of them IMO I 'd have one of every model if I could, the only thing the 80 is missing is the performance of the 4.7 but once you get the 100 setup you can't beat the comfort and performance with the 4.7 we saw Marty hang with us on the trails in Hot Springs in a stock 100 it was impressive. To date all the cruisers are built with that same durability and capability in 10 years we'll be doing that to the 200's. Looking forward to see you'd next weekend.

Justin didn't get to talk you so how did the 80 do in Hot Springs, review of your lockers and before and after impressions. From the pics looked like it was at home on the trails.

I thought she did very well and the all of the armor was utilized! Having lockers is night and day compared to open/open. It was a huge convenience to be able to lock and unlock the front, on the fly, as the difficulty of the run changed. I integrated the factory switch with the dash lights which, in my opinion, makes for a very clean install. I still have to relocate the pump, tank, and solenoids.

I think the gearing change is an improvement both on and off the road. I would love to be able to gear it down some more, but other than going to 5.29's, I'm out of options.

Once I finish the pump relo I will update my build thread. All in all, I have no regrets!

Glad to hear it , looking forward to seeing the updates in the build thread. I agree on the gearing and would like to look at doing something in the tranfercase to get a lower crawl ratio.

If anyone runs across or has seen who sells one of these tents I'm looking :) Thanks

Nolen may be selling one of his Oz tents that are like those pictured.

FYI they didn't do that well in the storm at K2 a couple of years ago.
They are nice and spacious but i lost interset in them
after that

Yeah, from what I remember the sentences should go something more like this:

yeah durring the day, all armor was utilized, Durring night I found where I needed more armor.

:D

Thanks
Cody

Nice. I would like to see some reviews on them before I jumped on the boat though.

so you saving your money up for it yet?

I haven't started saving yet, but the :princess: was informed, Thanksgiving weekend, that this is an expense to expect in the next year. Gearing was my only complaint at SCC.

Came to chat so I wouldn't hijack the pictures thread. Now that I've got my 80, I want to know about every other 80 owner's mods. Please post 'em up.

What do you plan on doing with it? Make sure all of your preventative is up to date and you could start by doing doing the PHH (pesky heater hose, plenty of info in 80s tech. Then LED replacement interior lights and LandTank's seat extension mod are two that you can enjoy the benefits from while you get all of the other mods done.

Make sure you check out this thread Bayou State Land Cruisers - 80 projects info

Also you can check out my build thread (needs to be updated) which is linked in my sig line.

X2 on Justin's comments, If the PO hasn't done any recently I'd start with the preventive maintenancetune-up, belts, hoses, PHH and new fluids in the FR & RR diffs, transfer and tranny service (filter and oil). Grease the knuckles and u-joints and that should give you peace of mind for the next 30K. I'll move this over to the 80 thread for continued discussion :)

Justin and Larry, thanks for the good advice. The LandTank seat extension project would be something I know that I would benefit from now. I feel so damn cramped. Imagine that 13 hour ride home.

As for all of the PM, I'll try to get that list done soon. If it takes me through the next 30,000 miles - with the exception of the oil change - that would be great.

I definitely want to lift the vehicle but don't need to be extreme. I was thinking about a 3" OME with the level stance option. I'd prolly go heavy because I do foresee an ARB Bull Bar and winch up front with a swing away rear tire carrier in the back. I'm pretty much decided on the ARB, just not sure about the rear. I'd prefer bolt on and Slee's offering looks good, but damn it's expensive.

It may be that I have to approach this as a long term project instead of doing everything at once like I usually do. I need to learn from my mistakes and do the research first instead of just jumping at the first thing I see that I like. That has lead to some regrets in the past and usually ends up costing me more money than necessary.

Scott's list in chat was great and gave me some things to consider that I had not before. I've already copied and pasted that thing into my spreadsheet of desired mods! I'm also lurking in the 80's tech section learning about things like the 7-Pin mod. If I don't slow down on research and making a wish list, I'm gonna be overwhelmed. The problem is that patience has never been a virtue of mine.

What size tires do you plan on running? I'm running 37's with only 4" in the front with a lot of weight. You can run 35's or 315/65/16 with no lift at all, but to get the level stance the front will definitely have to come up.

It's hard not to start ordering things when you dive into it. I had a few boxes showing up at the house every week for a few months straight and I still have a box full of "mods to do" with unfinished mods on the cruiser as we speak. Now that duck season is over, she will start getting the attention she deserves again.

You may also want to check out the FAQ in 80's Tech, it's not comprehensive, but it will answer a lot of questions for you. Don't hesitate to shoot me a PM or give me a call if you have any questions.
