80 Pickup with Chevy 4.3 V6 Vortec - 4L60E - NP241

Is it necessary to run the support rod/bar from the t case to the engine. The thing is beefy and has two large bolts on the t-case side. I will make it work if its a must but it just looks like extra support that really is not needed. What do you guys think?

Thanks

Where da pics..... Of such said truck?

The tranny dropped a tad when the jack was let down..
You might be able to fit it in with some hammer love...

Yea it wont take much. I tried to fit it up after you left and it was almost there just about a 1/2 inch of beating on the floor will cause it to fit. But I wont run it if its not necessary.

You'd be better off to build a t-case crossmember or build a cradle for the t-case and tie it into your trans crossmember

Any pics of that type of crossmember/cradle?

I was thinking to mod the stock bar brace to go to the crossmember. l(see red line in pic).

Why not make another simple mount to the frame over there? It would be a lot stronger.

These solutions may not be the way to go.
I am unfamiliar with GM stuff, but the fact that the support goes from the tcase to the engine makes sense.

Your motor mounts and trans mount make a triangle and are rubber.
If you weld to the cross member (or frame) you eliminate the drivetrain's ability to flex and move as the frame flexes.

Somethings gonna break, like the tcase housing or trans case...

I vote to fit the support if you can.

Sick truck by the way, I love it. Subscribed.

A little bit of beating on the floor pan with a hammer gave me plenty of clearance to fit the support rod.

may not be the same we didnt put the one on our monster truck and broke the back of the turbo 400 tranny off .i think the factory put them there for a reason because some early gms we have owned didnt have them.we added that support and one of our own and so far no breackage.

If your planning on beating on it then that rod ain't going to be enough, do some searching on pirate4x4 gen 4x4 discussion and you'll see what i'm talking about. The main thing seems to be make sure engine/trans/tcase are all mounted up in the same way
