Took a trip down to Vista, CA to visit Nick who owns 80% Off-Road so he could install his swing out for me. Really solid guy and had me in and out in about 3 hours for about $900. Nothing touches his product for the money. He should have a line of Toyota's down the street getting these installed....

This kits gets welded in and you get to retain your factory bumper. It's also a fraction of the weight of a full aftermarket bumper and swing out, which is what I was after. Also, it's a DIY kit. If you or a friend can weld install would be a piece of cake.

Sign me up!

Can you post a pic directly from the side to see the spacing to the tailgate?

This looks like exactly what I’ve been wanting. I just bought a 1up hitch rack though and now I’m thinking that I’lll want that on swing out too, which kind of puts a damper on this for me. I wonder if this would be strong enough to also support two bikes and the rack. Doesn’t look promising and seems pretty risky though.

From what the pics show, you would use the 1UP stinger on the hitch and not on the this swingout - which I prefer anyway. You'd just need a hitch extension.

Would you know if the spare tire can be custom-ordered to be placed in the middle? Wanted to expose the taillights and not reduce rear end visibility because of the 34/35 inch tires.

Nice setup. Curious about the tire angle ...

Both are fine but the double shear heim seems like it's better suited for this design. The spindle and it's framework would have to sit 3" lower.

If I had to make changes to the design, I'd make the tire sit vertically and enclose the lower half of the rim. A little gap is fine. It's a great way to store a recovery strap or extra oil, fuel siphon, 1lb propane, etc. Things that get dirty or you don't want inside.

Looks promising.

I'm no engineer, can someone fill me in on the pros/cons of using these heim joints instead of your typical spindle? I'm aware of the spindle cons.

Looks like the kits start @ $699

Time will tell on the Heim set up- if the threaded inserts loosen up and get sloppy over time. I think overall it’s a clever solution, and a clean looking install- just not sure how well the heims will perform ( or deform) long term from weight of tire and swing out, bouncing, flexing, hits etc in the trail.
