Locked up fans are a bit noisier. I did mine when I was having cooling trouble after having no luck rebuilding the clutch and I found it to be much more efffective at cooling than the clutch version ever was. The tradeoff was noise and likley power. I can live with both.

Micheal, what are you building exactly? Are you locking up an old clutch or building a solid mount for the fan?

Yep like Brett said I am taking old cores (usually bad clutch fans) and turning them into solid fans. All external features remain the same to no changes to anything just bolt it up and you are set. BTW I still need more cores if anyone wants to part with some old clutch fans.

silicon clutch fluid

Interesting, is the HJ60 fan the same as the FJ60? And to think I just ordered 3 bottles of silicon to rebuild the fan clutch

Brett, Did you recore your existing or...?

Did you order the silicon from Toyota ? I have tried to order it from them but they say it is not avail !!! Do you have a p/n and how $$$ is it ?

I just picked up my silicon wed. 08816-03001. I've had the fan clutch apart for 2 days letting all the old goo leak out. It was about $11 ea usd.
