For anyone worried about their kids being alone in this trip: don't sweat it! There will be more kids there than you could ask for! They'll be fine and you may even lose them for periods of time like I did last year! Try not to or you may get in trouble too!

On another note, I'm mentally ready to go now!
Have some awesome new stuff to add to the 100 pretty soon!
Dissent rear from Ben.
I got talking to Georg at Valley Hybrids about lockers and gears!
And I just placed an order for a new RTT from auto home and am very excited, not 100% sure if it will arrive in time but hope it will! Shipment comes in "some time" in July!
See you all there!

lol I've been thinking of pulling the trigger and giving Georg a call about the same thing!!

Ha! Do it!
It was great chatting with him on the phone about the project! A good friend of mine is having Georg's shop doing a H55 swap in his 40 and maybe axles as well!
I did some rough calculations before I got the job estimate and I was literally $0.38 off!

I wonder if we all could come up with something for the kids to do together. Kind of like the pot luck but more of a all kids meet and greet? I dunno, just thinking off the top of my head.

11 yr old daughter will be tagging along with me, but she's a tomboy and looking forward to a mile high football game!

Good idea @aaronrules - sounds like there will be a lot of kids! Maybe we have a kids breakfast potluck?

I'm picturing a giant pile of Pop Tarts and Froot Loops in my head.

We are working on kids activities as well. But.... if anyone would like to organize their own activities for the kids, please do so. It will only make the event more enjoyable for them!

Gentle reminder to everyone regarding gas tank fill ups: resist the temptation to top off your tank when you're filling up. Your charcoal canister can easily get overwhelmed at altitude and with a little heat. We had a few gurgling tanks (mine included) last year and a couple '06/'07 rigs decided they didn't want to restart (for 15-45 min) after a break for a scenic view.

Plenty of information on this forum about it and I think we had a long string of posts on the HIH6 thread with commentary.

That goes not only for the San Juan mountains area but for most of the areas on your way there! As you get closer to CO you'll be gaining a lot of altitude, it is obviously mid summer so it will be HOT everywhere!
I had the problem in Yellowstone, Montrose, Ouray and Grand Canyon.

Gasoline without ethanol helps with the fuel boiling/vapor issues and will reduce the strain on the charcoal as well, but it is really difficult to find in Colorado.

Ethanol-free gas stations in CO

Anybody here looking for an affordable rear locker? I may be putting my TJM up for grabs soon and could deliver it in Silverton if someone commit to it!
I'm currently considering different avenues!
Please don't clutter the tread, PM me instead! Thanks

Wow had no idea about the gas. Does that only go for recent altitude changes to high altitude? I live at 7,500 ft and have driven a 100 series for 2 years without any issues (always filling the tank).

12 & 14yr olds coming with us - I know we'll be bringing our baseball mitts, maybe enough for a game?

My GPS tracks from last year. First year I actually mapped everything we did. Wish i had done this every year...

If anyone has GPX files for some of the other runs, Black Bear, Poughkeepsie, Last Dollar, etc, PM me and we'll get them all into one map.

Colorado
