Hey All-

I am ineed of a new exhaust from the manifold back and would like some options . I do not believe my truck has a cat converter and I prefer to keep it that way...Thanks!

take it to a local muffler shop and they'll make you the new exhaust you require. they'll run it any way you like also.

Bump:

What kind of prices should we expect from a shop for a standard, non-fancy, exhaust from the manifold back?

$165 from the header back w/ a no-name turbo muffler.

I have a Hushpower muffler on my 40 and I like the way it sounds, very quiet. Yes, the Hushpower is made by Flowmaster, but it's a completely different design, rather that internal chambers, it's a straight thru design like a cherry bomb. The small size makes it perfect for a 40. Mine is tucked in next to the frame rails. Only complaint is that it was expensive ($100), but it is stainless steel.

FWIW, I have a stock F motor, 6-1 header, 2-1/4" piping and a 18"x2-1/4 Hushpower with the tail pipe exiting out the side like the factory exhaust (1973).

check it out at

FWIW, I paid just over $100 for the muffler and $80 for the install/piping from header back.

My 78/noCAT also needed an exhaust. Being a "stock" kind of guy, I checked it out and the rear section is still available from Toyota. About $225 IIRC. The front section is no longer made. It turns out that my front section (stainless) was still solid but had a weld crack from a tow truck incident. They were able to reweld it so I now have an all stock exhaust for around $300. G'luck.

I just bought a 76 40. has dual exhuast. one on each side in front of the rear tire.
being short do I need a cross over to equilize them?
not to kee on location for I get to feel the exhaust when i get in and out of hte rig while running.

is it better to have single and out the back? not touching it for now cause it works, but this is an exhaust thread so I thought I would ask. last owner said it kept rusting out when it went out the back.
