76 Landcruiser FJ40 Wiring problem at Voltage Regulator

My FJ40 was slow cranking and melted the wiring off the lead at the voltage regulator. I replaced the voltage regulator and it did the same thing over again. Any help anyone can provide?

I'm not familiar with this specific problem but I will say that it is a good idea to check your grounds. You may need to pull them loose, clean off any rust, oil or corrosion and re-attach. Sorry I can't be more specific but loose or corroded grounds are a common malady on old 'Cruisers.
