For Sale 76 FJ40 California

Hello everybody ,
I'm not much of a poster on this forum but I do a lot of interesting reading here and its a great resource for me . I've decided to sell my FJ40 but I need your help in Pricing it . I've had it since 1993 and i'm the 2nd owner . Here are some of what i've done with it .

Modifications:

3FE injected engine (FJ80)

5speed transmission (H55F)

Split Case transfer case

3.73:1 differentials

Twin stick transfer case setup.

Power steering (FJ80)

Brake booster (FJ80)

Aluminum Wheels (From Japanese BJ40)

FJ Cruiser steering wheel



Needs (My Opinion):

Parking Brake (I’ve been thinking of which way to go on this one)

Stout steering linkage ( Never had a problem, but looking at the original bugs me)

Inside the tank Fuel pump (to cut down on the pump noise some)

Paint and upholstery


Notes:

Has a Salvage pink slip (Registration penalties where very high so I had it Salvaged to re-register).

I had it re upholstered an painted in 1993

Top has never been off .

Always been in California rust free.

Runs and drives great registered till Oct.2017.

$8k - $12k depending on a more detailed quality review of components, body condition

I would think 6 to 8 but then Cali is unique in there prices. Thats not bad but it isn't "rust free". The interior is pretty much done. No heat? Like Murdoch said, a lot would depend on actual condition of what is there.

Your better doing your own research. Most people on mud have drastically different opnions. Especially if you ask them what their truck is worth...

Dont give it away. It looks like a great truck.

Thanks Peterson , I appreciate others opinions as well . The rust in that one picture is just underneath the paint that is all, the truck needs paint and upholstery as I mentioned ,I have the heater but haven't installed it , I was thinking of installing the aftermarket A/C heater unit , but all the stuff is a matter for the new owner to decide according to their taste. I'm selling it because i'm getting old and want someone else to enjoy it, I'm not much in a hurry.

Your issue in California may be getting a smog certificate since it is a 76. With a smog cert. my 2 cents is probably $15 to $17.
