75-78 Steering Box help

Hey guys, hopefully this is posted in the right spot, if not I apologize.

So basically I bought a 1937 Ford rat rod truck and I've been doing a ton of research on what steering box is in it. Finally someone identified it as coming from a 75-78 Toyota Truck.

Now, knowing nothing about Toyota trucks all my research on this box isn't helping much. Essentially I'm trying to figure out what the steering ratio is, and where can I find a good rebuild kit, or better yet, someone that works on these things? I have 0 experience with steering boxes. It has been reversed though, so not sure if that would affect anything in terms of rebuilding it.

I attached some pics. If you guys could give any other info on this thing it would be greatly appreciated.

It looks like an FJ60 steering box, if you need a rebuild kit contact @beno he's our OEM parts expert. He's probably going to ask you for a model number so you might want to have it handy.

Awesome, thank you. A couple quick questions. I'm seeing an FJ60 was from 1981-87, is that correct? Also you mentioned a model number, where at on the steering box would I find that? I haven't removed it from the truck yet so I wasn't aware of anything stamped on it, other than the manufacturer (Koyo) name.

The part should be stamped on there but you need to look all around the box underneath the paint, I don't recall an exact location.

It's manual steering correct?

Yes, it is manual.

How is that mounted?

Outside of the frame, inside of the frame, sideways?

Haha well that's the fun part. It's actually being used in a cowl steering setup. So it's actually inside the truck, under the dash. It's mounted to a plate that's welded to a frame that ties into the chassis. So the input shaft is connected directly to a u joint that is connected directly to the steering column / shaft. The sector shaft basically has an extension tube connected to it that runs sideways out of the cowl and connects to the pitman arm. It's a unique take on a classic hot rod steering setup.

Think it could be from a 75-78 Toyota truck? Only other possibility that I've heard. Pretty sure it's been reversed though as well. So something else to keep in mind.

Similar, but I don;t really think so.
