I am replacing a gearbox on a 72 Landcruiser and I am having problems taking off the box from steering rod. I have got the bolts taken oout and when i try to slide box out of steering rod only the collar moves it will not come out so the gearbox will not come out? Is there any special way to get it out? THANKS

Do you have a rag joint on your steering shaft? The rag joints were added after 9/72, so it depends on your date of manufacture. If not, the steering shaft is integral with the gear box. You will have to remove the entire assembly from your rig and take the box apart to get the steering shaft out. Coolerman has a good write up on this on his website - here .

And welcome to Mud! Post up some specs and pics of your rig.

Good luck!
