You have the wrong snorkel. Look at @1978HJ45 post above for a photo of the correct unit.

Correct, the snorkel that you have shown on your pictures is for the later 70-series Land Cruisers with the wider front end (non-narrow front end). See photos below:

I have seen the later snorkel installed on the earlier 70-series, but not sure how they have attached it or how they connected it to the air cleaner.

Hope this helps!

Hello,

I am afraid you have a post-2007 model year snorkel, as mentioned above.

While it can be made to fit an older model 70 Series, it might not look as it should.

This is an OEM pre-2007 snorkel. Notice that it is a little longer to adapt to the narrow front end.

That's what I was afraid of. So anyone want to buy a snorkel?

Anyone know if the the upper half is the same? And only need the lower part?

How did you come by that snorkel in the US? You are probably better offit selling it all together and buy a complete new one.

It was included in the sale of the cruiser. Unfortunately another thing about the truck that was not as told from the PO.

Anyone know where to source the correct one or if anyone is looking to buy mine?
I might have mine for sale in the near future, but you will need to keep the metal piece with the 3 holes in it if I sell mine to you.

its from an hj75 ducted too a bj air box . it works fine , but ill get an hj box for it later on. I made a bracket too lower the washer bottle and a sleave too reduce the duct where it conects too the box.

Anyone ever make a template for installing the OE snorkel on a stock narrow body fender? I've got some of the OE snorkel kits and an aftermarket one @theferg scored for his BJ74. I guess I should just pop a hole in Jenny.

Any snorkel kit for sale?

Quite possibly, a couple are for upcoming builds but a. We can get more and b. The ones we have for builds may not happy for a few months. Hit us at the shop and I can look into it when back in the office.

Hi Kurt,

I recently swapped the Safari snorkel installed in my BJ74 for the OEM one (I bought the whole set: airbox, rubber hose, gasket, ducts, bracket and top). To be honest, I had reference to start working with, a troopy with factory opening and bolting nuts for the snorkel.

Work wasn't easy, but the best way to start was to measure the position of the round-cornered rectangle opening for the airbox. After that, you can get your way up and measure where to drill the holes for bolting points for the horizontal duct (you can either weld nuts or install rivnuts).

Finally, the most complex was to measure the couple of bolts for the bracket that hold the cap and vertical duct in place. This was done by first having the airbox installed and bolting the whole snorkel (all components from bracket to cap) to the fender. Then you get to mark where the top bracket will be bolted.

Even if the OE snorkel is not completely sealed like the Safari; its looks beat the latter by far.

PD. One tip, the upper duct has grooves that couple with holes in the bracket, these are meant to squeeze and hold in place the cap once you adjust the bracket's bolts but I found this wasn't enough when driving around 60-70mph (the cap went slightly loose due to the wind and was lost...). I was not sure if the bolts weren't properly adjusted but I rather fixed the 2nd cap with a couple of fasteners that went around the fins in the cap and bracket.

Let me know if you need any help with the install; I can hopefully guide you with some details.

Daniel.
