What do you mean by closed to all vehicles?
Is it that it is forbidden by the authorities or is it that it has become too difficult?
I asked Eddie about the engine and gearbox and clutch.
The gearbox is from longwheel based Toyota LC wth 3Liter diesel or bigger engine (maybe 4.2L)
The clutch is a heavy duty clutch, but once again I don't use a Volvo axle, it's original MKII axle, only with reinforced German bearings.
We went out this week-end, 4 SWB vehicles or buggies. The track we took is definitely not for long wheel based vehicles. Many broken bridges and passages requiring a very steep attack angle.
It's only my 3rd outing with the Toy so I'm still making mistakes in my choice of trajectories.
However except on one particular case where I add to extract myself from a deep mud hole, outside the track because in any case there was no more track!! I haven't use more than 4000rpm which I consider to be already high rev in extreme trial conditions.
Later I will make video of some difficult passage and you will see that it is definitely possible to use a 1JZ between 1000 to 3000rpm in 90% of the cases. In first low gear you can use it from 1000 to 2000rm, but this is only for extreme conditions, most of the time, 2nd low gear provides more speed and traction that can be used to roll over the obstacles.
I think that during our outing I only used 2 ou 3 times the first gear, to tackle the logs bridge and to extract from a rut where starting in 2nd gear would not work.
Have a look to our last outing:

I had to leave around 3:30pm. A rescue car took a Hi Lift Jack around 3:45pm but heavy rain starded around 4pm. They could make it to the main road around 10pm. Going up the hill part was not more than 2kms... but took them 4 hours!
