Hi there,
I recently acquired an old Toyota Land Cruiser short base (70 series) with a 2.5L 1JZ twin turbo installed on board. We are currently preparing it for the conditions of the rain forest of Borneo. I'm member of a 4x4 club there named SAKTA. This is a group of passionate people with a huge experience in the extreme conditions of the jungle of Borneo.
Originally this car was used for street racing an drifting and had never seen muddy conditions in its life. This mistake is corrected! You can have a look at the transformation at Picasa Web Albums - olive_fr I have posted there many pics of the different phases of the modifications, which are still going on!
Here are few pics:
The Toy before the transformation... a 20 years old 70 series.
The 2.5L 1JZ-GTE fitting in the hood. Enough power to tackle the muddy conditions of the Rain forest.
After 2 weeks of work. 4" suspension lift by Old Man Emu, 35" Extreme Trekker tyres. Almost ready to go!
Exhaust line placed on the side, will be protected by the tubular side steps.
A PTO winch has been installed. Absolutely necessary to pull you out of a mud pit.
And more to come in 2 weeks. Going out this Monday and after that 2 weeks of more preparation to finish the body rust, install a front and rear bumper, side protection as well as an external roll cage. Then there will still be some other improvements the latest being the installation of 2 ARB lockers for the front and rear axle.
Don't hesitate to ask questions if you have. If you plan to visit Borneo one of this days and specially Kuching, drop me a message!
Olivier
