Hello guys,

Im asking for your help as I managed to get an electric oem winch out of a 75 pickup. Its a 1987 if I recall correctly. I have a few Qs you may help me out with.

1 What is the rated pulling capacity of such a winch?
2 Does it originally come mounted on the bumper of the 70 series or on top of it? (I never saw it mounted on the original pick up truck)
3 This is a 12v winch and my rig is a 24v one, would it hurt it much if I run it in 24v for a few tests?
4 This winch has a pulley at the end of the wire, is it OEM too?

I will try to get a pic of it tomorrow.

If you have any pics of how it comes mounted will greatly help me out. It came with a piece of frame where it was mounted.

TIA!

cheers!

I am very sorry! I did not mean to be offensive to anybody. Im changing my avatar right away!

Apologies.

This is an online forum with people from all parts of the world, I'm sure that in bj40man's country that isn't offensive and he didn't mean anything by it, so there's no reason for you to be offended, you don't have to change you avatar man.

Don't hook the 12v winch to 24v. Just hook it up to one of your batteries for a test, and then it will only see 12v.

Are we talking about the upright electric here (should be, judging by the vintage).

The winch rating from Toyota is based on something other than the "normal" standard of winch ratings. The upright Aisin 1000 is good for about 8000 lbs (using similar values to something like Warn as a comparison).

Look for my BJ74 trail truck thread, there is a picture of the Aisin upright there.

If you want more pix, I can post some for you.

The winch sits in the bumper.

Thank you!

This is the exact same winch! I checked your pics (only one shows the winch from the sides) Would you pls post a few more? Thank you.

Im planning on installing it on my 24v 40 series. Ive heard 12v. winches in general can take short periods of 24volts. Any recommendations with this specific one?

Thanks a lot!
